The Left goes after the Youth Vote before they Grow Up and Become Responsible

Posted by PITHOCRATES - October 13th, 2012

Week in Review

The Left always urges kids to vote the moment they turn 18.  That it’s important they exercise their right to vote.  Because their views and opinions are important.  Because they haven’t become corrupted or jaded yet by politics.  We need to listen to the young.  Because they are our future.  And not a bunch of doddering old people who vote just to protect their bank accounts, their homes, their children and their country.  No, these people are just too old and blind to the progressive needs of our country.  Maybe they knew what was important in their youth but they’re completely out of touch today.  And therefore we need the young to help us move the nation forward.  For they may be young but they’re smart, responsible and in touch with the important issues of the day (see Investigators suspect teen in fatal LI crash was ‘high’ by KIERAN CROWLEY, ERIN CALABRESE and DAN MANGAN posted 10/9/2012 on the New York Post).

Joseph Beer, 17, “was driving way too fast” right before the spectacular crash at about 3:40 a.m. yesterday on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County, a law-enforcement source said.

Authorities suspect Beer “was high” at the time the his new 2012 Subaru STI slid across a section of the highway known as Dead Man’s Curve and went sailing into a group of trees — totaling the car and ejecting all five people inside, the source said.

Only Beer survived — but killed instantly were his four recently graduated classmates from Richmond Hill HS in Queens, all of whom were 18 years old…

Because Beer only had a learner’s permit, he was barred from driving between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., from driving without a licensed 21-year-old driver in the car to supervise him, and from carrying any passengers under age 21 who were family members.

There but for the grace of God go I.  We’ve all done stupid things in our youth.  Despite things like this happening to someone we know or to someone in our community.  But we are so stupid in our youth that we continue to do stupid things.  Which is why we can’t drink until we’re 21.  And can’t drive after 9 PM without a licensed 21-year-old (or older) driver to help us stop doing stupid things.  But as much as we try to stop these stupid things from happening they do.  Which is why car insurance is so expensive for young drivers.  Because of the stupid things we do in our youth.

Had it not been for the youth vote Barak Obama would not have won the 2008 election.  But if they’re not mature enough to drink until they’re 21 perhaps they’re not mature enough to vote either.  President Obama’s Keynesian policies have devastated the economy.  They caused a credit downgrade for the first time in history.  We have had record trillion dollar deficits in each year of his presidency.  We have a record debt thanks to his deficits.  His stimulus bill rewarded campaign contributors while creating no ‘shovel ready’ jobs.  His bailout of GM and Chrysler did what a normal bankruptcy filing would have done only without screwing the bond holders and giving the company to the UAW to bail out their pension plan while leaving the same structure in place that prevented them from selling vehicles profitably in the first place.  His investments in green energy rewarded campaign contributors instead of creating jobs of the future.  His attacks on oil have raised the price of gasoline and food.  And his attack on coal is setting up the country for an energy future of rolling blackouts and outages.

A lot of old people understand this because they have experienced a lot of this before.  They lived through the disaster of the Carter presidency.  And the Morning in America of Ronald Reagan.  They know that the pro-business policies of Warren Harding/Calvin Coolidge, JFK, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush produced both economic growth and increased tax revenue.  And they’ve already lived through a decline in American Exceptionalism once during the Seventies and don’t want to live through it again now.  Especially those who immigrated to the United States for a better life.  And they’re seeing it decline again right before their eyes thanks to excessive government spending and attacks on success.  Old people see this.  They’ve experienced it.  Which is why they vote the way they vote.  Not for promises of free birth control or access to unlimited abortion services.  Or the decriminalization of marijuana.  Issues that weigh heavily on the minds of young voters.  Which the Left knows.  And exploits.  Which is how they got Barack Obama elected.  And put the nation into the precarious position it is now in.

FT121: “As liberals gain knowledge and experience they become conservatives.” -Old Pithy

Posted by PITHOCRATES - June 8th, 2012

Fundamental Truth

Carnegie and Rockefeller were able to make the World Better because of Capitalism and Free Markets

Liberals campaign hard to get the youth vote.  Before the young grow up and become responsible adults.  Lose their youthful idealism.  And their ignorance of rudimentary economics.  Kids graduating from high school don’t know much about economics.  They don’t know that JFK was a tax cutter just like Ronal Reagan.  And that those tax cuts stimulated real economic growth.  They don’t know any of this.  But they know who Al Gore is.  And will read you the riot act whenever you do anything that will increase your carbon footprint on this planet.

Those who go on to college build on their liberal high school education.  Where they don’t learn about how Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller created the modern nation we know today.  Carnegie made steel plentiful and inexpensive.  Allowing us to build the skyscrapers in our cities.  Rockefeller made kerosene so plentiful and inexpensive that he put the whale oil industry out of business.  Saving the whales.  And gave us plentiful and inexpensive gasoline for our automobiles.  Providing fuel for our trains and planes.  Giving us the freedom to travel anywhere.  Visiting big cities like New York.  Where many of the great skyscrapers built with Carnegie steel are still standing today.

Carnegie and Rockefeller are just two entrepreneurs who changed the world.  And greatly increased our standard of living.  Who were free to make the world a better place because of capitalism and free markets.  Instead of working for a paycheck like most people do they took risks and created things.  Better steel.  And better fuel.  As well as jobs.  Lots and lots of jobs.  So people could work for a paycheck.  Why did they take these great risks?  Because the possibility of getting rich is a great incentive.  Which is why aspiring actors go to Los Angeles and starve.  Hoping to get a break.  Get discovered.  So they can become rich.   Which is why people buy lotto tickets.  To become rich.  For it appears everyone wants to get rich.  But there is a difference when people like Carnegie and Rockefeller get rich.  Everyone lives a better life when they do.  Not just the movie star or the lotto winner.

Students live College Life to the Fullest and Pursue Degrees that won’t take up too much of their Time

So what do they learn in college?  That capitalism isn’t fair.  Corporations are evil.  But communism and socialism are good.  Government intervention into the free markets is good.  And, of course, those who do learn economics only learn Keynesian economics.  The school of economics that favors government interventionism into private markets.  And that great industrialists like Carnegie and Rockefeller were greedy and exploited their workers.  While communism and socialism protected their workers.  Which is another failing of our educational system.  Students don’t learn what an abject failure communism was.  Both as an economic system.  And on human rights.  They don’t learn that.  Or that a lot of rich industrialists like Carnegie and Rockefeller spent the last years of their lives giving away the wealth they amassed.  Like some of America’s rich continue to do today.  As exemplified by Bill Gates.

No.  Their education is a poor one.  Which explains why the Indians and Chinese are passing American students by.  The goal of American public education is not to produce high test scores.  But to indoctrinate students into being good Democrat voters.  So those in the public sector unions can continue to earn more in pay and benefits than their counterparts in the private sector.  Another fact they don’t teach these young students.  They keep these students young and dumb as long as possible.  And the government helps.  By focusing on the things important to these students.  Lenient drug laws.  Birth control.  And abortion.  To make sure their first time living away from their parents is a good time.  A fun time.  And to make sure that they understand that Democrat political candidates aren’t like their parents.  Those buzz kills.  Whose favorite word in their vocabulary is ‘no’.  Not the Democrats.  They like the word ‘yes’.  As in “yes we can.”  And yes you can.  Do whatever young people with raging sex drives like to do.  And they do.

They live college life to the fullest.  Many pursuing degrees that won’t take up too much of their time.  Taking less science and math like the Indians and the Chinese.  Because those are hard and require a lot of homework.  Instead they pursue degrees in women’s studies.  Minority studies.  Family studies.  American studies.  Communications.  Film.  Psychology.  Philosophy.  Things that are fun and have no math.  Allowing a lot of fun when outside of the classroom.  But are absolutely worthless in the high-tech economy.  The only employment opportunities for these degrees is to become a professor and teach other students these worthless degrees.

It turns out Liberalism is a Lie used to maintain a Privileged Class

So when these college graduates can’t get a job that’ll make them rich overnight they get angry.  And struggle to pay down the mountain of debt that paid for those worthless degrees.  Of course it’s not their fault.  Or the universities who sold them those worthless degrees.  It’s Wall Street’s fault.  Those evil rich people who don’t pay their fair share in taxes.  That somehow if they only paid more in taxes they could find gainful employment.

And when the young start working for a living they discover taxes.  From property taxes to payroll taxes to income taxes.  Which are a lot of taxes.  And when they start raising a family they start paying attention to what’s on television.  Which was fine when they were partying in their youth.  But somehow isn’t right now that they are parents.  They start thinking about the things they did in their youth.  And how to hide it from their kids.

And when there are ballot initiates to raise taxes to pay for budget deficits at the city and state level they pay attention to what caused these deficits.  And they don’t like what they learn.  Public sector pensions and health care benefits that are far greater than theirs.  Worse, they are not only paying for theirs (through a payroll deduction and/or lower pay) they’re paying for these generous public sector benefits via ever increasing taxes.  And they will be paying these taxes for a long time as few will be able to retire until they’re well into their sixties.  Working some 40-50 years.  While public sector retirees can enjoy their more generous benefits after only working some 20-30 years.

Which is why as liberals gain knowledge and experience they become conservatives.  Because young and dumb was fun in their youth.  But everyone has to grow up.  And learn that their parents were right.  Which is why a lot of people grow up to become conservative like their parents.  But few conservatives become liberals.  Because as it turns out liberalism is a lie.  It is just a means to maintain a privileged class.  Where life is great within the privileged class.  Where you can retire after 20-30 years and receive generous pensions and health care benefits.  But it sucks for those outside that privileged class who have to pay for it.  Which is why public education is not about test scores.  But producing good Democrat voters.  To maintain that privileged class.  Because education is in that privileged class.

Democrat (dĕm’ə-krăt’), n., A member of the Democrat Party, the more liberal of the two major political parties in the United States.

Politics 101

The Planter Elite was a Small Minority in the South but these Southern Democrats Wielded the Political Power

People often say that the Democrat Party is for the working man.  Which is rather ironic as it has more often been the party of privilege.  It was also the party of slavery.  The party of Jim Crowe Laws.  The party of segregation.  And the party to have an Exalted Cyclops of the KKK as a high-ranking member of Congress.  Senator Byrd.  Who later filibustered against the 1964 Civil Rights Act.  Which is another irony.

Black voters tend to vote Democrat despite this history.  At the time of the Civil War it was Northern Republicans against Southern Democrats.  The Southern states seceding from the Union to keep their slaves.  And the institution of slavery.  For the plantation system was a throwback to Old World aristocracy.  Only with slaves instead of peasants.  The Planter Elite was a small minority in the South.  But they wielded the political power.  And owned all of the good land.  Like in any landed aristocracy.  And slavery worked that good land.  That peculiar institution that survived long past the 20 years the Founding Fathers thought it would.  Of course, the Founding Fathers never counted on Eli Whitney.  Or his cotton gin.

Today’s Democrats can trace their lineage back to Thomas Jefferson’s Republican Party.  And to the man who wrote “all men are created equal.”  The hero of the yeoman farmer.  The backbone of the new republic.  Only Thomas Jefferson was more equal than most.  He was part of the landed aristocracy of the South, the planter elite.  Wealthy.  Refined.  A bit of a dandy.  And a hypocrite.  To some.

Thomas Jefferson saw the Corruption Resulting from Mixing Money and Government

Thomas Jefferson was brilliant.  Well read.  And had strong beliefs.  He understood politics.  And he knew world history.  He hated bankers and merchants.  Saw the corruption resulting from mixing money and government.  And especially hated Alexander Hamilton.  The secretary of the treasury.  And puppet master of George Washington.  Or so he believed.

Hamilton was a capitalist.  He understood money.  And the power of capital.  Ergo he was a sneaky bastard.  Corrupt.  And possibly the devil.  In Jefferson’s eyes.  So he worked tirelessly to destroy Hamilton.  Put a man on the federal payroll to help fund an opposition newspaper.  And slandered the hell out of him.  Exposed the affair with Mrs. Reynolds but left out the part about the Reynolds being crooks.  Mrs. Reynolds seduced Hamilton so Mr. Reynolds could blackmail him.  She did.  He did.  And Hamilton paid.  With his own money.  But Jefferson accused him of embezzling from the treasury to pay off the Reynolds.  And later lamented that Hamilton was such a good thief that they found absolutely no evidence of his heinous crimes.

When Jefferson was president, though, he did something very Hamiltonian.  He bought the Louisiana Territory.  Something that Hamilton would have done in a heartbeat.  And something Jefferson would have fought tirelessly against if he tried.

The Democrat Party is the Party of the Working Man as long as that Working Man belongs to a Union

So was Jefferson a hypocrite?  Sort of.  To many he was.  To himself, though, he wasn’t.  In his mind there was no contradiction in any of his actions.  For Jefferson’s mind could believe two conflicting truths at the same time.  He didn’t lie.  He didn’t flip flop.  These were not contradictions.  But paradoxes.  For the truth was nimble and flexible in his pragmatic vision.  And in that vision was an agrarian economy.  No banks.  A weak merchant class.  And a very limited and anemic federal government.  That spoke with a southern accent.  In other words a federal government was okay per se as long as Virginia and the planters of the other southern states controlled it.  Which they did for nearly a century thanks to the Three-Fifths Compromise.  That counted slaves as three-fifths a person for representation (giving the South more representatives per district than the North).  But not for taxation.

Privilege.  Born of the plantation system in America.  Based on the institution of slavery.  Where a small minority wielded great political power.  And exploited people (slaves) to accumulate wealth.  Protect their power.  And their privilege.  Not unlike the modern Democrat Party.  But today, because of the abolition of slavery, they have to do things differently.

Yes, the Democrat Party is the party of the working man.  As long as that working man belongs to a union.  Pays union dues.  And that union supports the Democrat party.  Working men who don’t are scabs.  And don’t deserve to have jobs.  So Democrat legislation favors Big Labor.  And unions.  Makes it hard for nonunion companies to compete for work.  And jobs using federal money have to pay union wages.  Either by union employees.  Preferably.  Or scabs earning union scale thanks to Davis-Bacon.  Which they would rather not have.  Because scabs earning union scale thanks to Davis-Bacon still don’t pay union dues.  But it at least makes it harder to compete against union companies.

Privilege Begets Privilege

This is the formula for most Democrat support.  Automotive workers (UAW).  Health care workers (SIEU).  Public sector workers (public sector unions).  Public school teachers (teachers unions).  And so on.  Privilege begets privilege.  You get favorable legislation as long as part of your union dues goes to Democrat coffers.  And if Democrats win control of Congress they will implement more anti-capitalistic legislation.  Impose tariffs to protect union jobs.  Increasing costs to taxpayers everywhere.  To support this privilege class.  So it’s who you know.  And not your ability.  Just like it was in the good old days.

To bolster their power they have to appeal to others in the electorate who aren’t union employees.  Because there just aren’t enough union employees.  Yet, at least.  So they also delve into crony capitalism.  Picking winners and losers in the private sector.  By supporting companies in favorable industries with grants and loan guarantees.  The winners being those who support Democrat candidates.  Privilege begets privilege.  The losers being those who don’t.  And these poor bastards not only don’t get grants or loan guarantees.  But the government saddles them with costly regulations to boot.  Or the Justice Departments initiates antitrust proceedings against them.  Like Microsoft.

Of course it takes Big Government to play like this.  And Big Government needs a lot of taxes.  For to spend money you have to first tax.  Or play with monetary policy.  Which is why Democrats will always oppose returning to the gold standard.  Because sometimes you can’t tax and spend.  Sometimes you have to print money and spend.  And you can’t do that with a gold standard.  But because of the problems inherent with printing money (inflation), they will tax every last penny they can first.  And their weapon of choice is class warfare.  To get the poor and middle class to agree to increase tax rates on the rich.  Which they are all for.  But what they don’t know is that Democrats are constantly redefining who is rich.  Which they would not be for.  Because a lot of people are being surprised to find out that they are now rich.  Especially modest middle class couples (say a cop and a teacher) whose combined income make them rich.  Much to their surprise.

The Democrat Party is For Sale to the Highest Contributor

The Democrats round out their base by appealing to populist issues.  They play down the God stuff and keep abortion legal to keep the youth vote.  And the feminists.  By showing that the government is not your parents when it comes to sex.  Or drugs (the youth is ever hopeful for the Democrat who finally decriminalizes marijuana).  Which is ironic as that same government acts like parents everywhere else.  Policing what we eat, drink and legally smoke.

They increase welfare spending to keep the poor dependent.  And voting Democrat.  They appeal to special interests (environmentalists, gays and lesbians, etc.) to get their support, too.  By painting their opponents as vicious monsters who want to destroy the environment.  Who want to criminalize being gay.  And who want to bring back the Spanish Inquisition.

You see, the modern Democrat Party has to buy votes.  Or lie to scare people.  Because people don’t willingly vote to give privilege to others.  Unless there’s something in it for them.  And this is where the modern Democrat Party breaks from Thomas Jefferson.  Jefferson did things to prevent money from influencing power.  And he did some pretty shady things.  But they were for a higher purpose.  To keep the spirit of 1776 alive.

The higher purpose of the Democratic Party?  The Democratic Party.  And unlike Jefferson, they’re all for influencing power with money.  In fact, the Democrat Party is for sale to the highest contributor.
