The Democrat Party is the Cool Uncle that buys Booze and Cigarettes for his Nieces and Nephews
People characterize the Republicans as being a bunch of old fogies. Out of touch. Who don’t have a clue about the world today. Unlike their children
do. Who are wise beyond their years. For they know there is nothing really bad with underage drinking and smoking. Smoking marijuana. Or doing other drugs. And there is nothing wrong with casual sex. Sexting. Or nude selfies.
This is why the children of old fogies like the Democrat Party. Because the Democrats get them. Unlike their parents. Their parents tell them they shouldn’t stay out late, drink, smoke, do drugs or have sex. While the Democrats decriminalize marijuana and work to decriminalize other drugs. Provide free birth control. And abortion without parental notification. Making the Democrat Party the cool uncle that buys booze and cigarettes for his nieces and nephews. So is it any wonder that the youth vote goes Democrat?
The ironic thing, though, is that these old fogies were once young themselves. And some were pretty wild in their youth, too. But once they became parents things changed. For when it’s their daughter they don’t want her being objectified. Encouraged to explore her sexuality by having so much casual sex that she catches a sexually transmitted disease or gets pregnant. Especially if they did in their youth. Which is the last thing they want for their little girl. Who is and will forever remain their little girl.
Keynesian Economics conditioned People to accept that Government knows Best
This is the rule. Not the exception. As kids grow up fighting their parents they reach a point in life where they realize that their parents were right all along. That if they had only spent more time on their homework and less time partying things would have turned out better. Life may have been less fun in the short-run but much better in the long-run. They’d had an earlier start in their career. A career with better pay and benefits. They could have bought a house sooner. Met someone to marry and start a family with sooner. Instead of finding themselves at 25 buried under student loan debt for a degree that can’t get them a job. And a decade or so of hooking up having conditioned men to shun any serious commitment. Leading their daughters to turn to serial dating and online dating. As they struggle to find someone else who has grown up, too.
This is what the old fogies know. That their kids don’t. You get wiser with age. Thanks to education. And experience. Two things the young just don’t have. And never will. Because by the time they grow wise from education and experience they are no longer kids. But well on their way to ‘old fogery’. Which is, of course, a problem for the Democrat Party. For a wise voting public will not help them win elections. As their Keynesian economic policies have nothing but a long record of failure. Giving us the Great Depression, the stagflation of the 1970s, the dot-com recession and the Great Recession. To name a few bad economic times Keynesian economics have given us. Things older people know from education and experience. But the kids voting Democrat don’t.
Keynesian economics ushered in the era of Big Government. And did something the Socialists could not. Conditioned people to accept that government knows best. Especially young people. Uneducated and inexperienced young people. Despite the Democrats’ horrible record concerning things economic. Because of this record the Democrats use lies and deceit to attack free market capitalism. That economic system that worked better than any other. To get people who knew no better to mistrust free market capitalism. And ask for the government to fetter unfettered capitalism. To make the world a fairer place.
The Democrats use Public Education to teach our Kids to Distrust Capitalism and to Trust Government
It sounds good to the inexperienced and uneducated. Because it feels good to think in terms of fairness. And if there is one thing the young have are emotions. They like to use their hearts. Not their brains. As they are idealistic and naïve. Unlike those old fogies who are realists. They can’t be fooled or swayed by the Democrat lies because they have learned and experienced a lot in their long lives. And heard the same old Democrat lies all through those long lives. Which is why the Democrats work so hard on the youth vote. The War on Women, their lax drug attitudes, birth control, abortion, gay rights…all of these are to get the young to think in terms of fairness. To tug on their heartstrings. To get them emotional. And keep them emotional. As well as ignorant.
The more ignorant people are the easier it is to lie to them. Anyone who knows the history of Western Civilization will understand how life became better for people as we moved closer to free market capitalism. Anyone who knows classical economics will understand how thrift, savings, free trade, sound money, etc., made America the number one economy in the world. While the Keynesian policies of today are threatening to knock America out of that number one spot. People who understand these things are not going to vote Democrat. Which is why the Democrats work hard to keep people from learning these things. By constantly lying about them. And not teaching them in the institutions they control. Our public schools. And our institutions of higher education.
The Republican equation for winning votes is a difficult equation. Knowledge + Experience + Reason = Republican Votes. It’s difficult because the Democrats have long controlled public education. Thanks to their friends in the teacher unions. And their friends running our institutions of higher education. Which spend more time teaching our kids to distrust capitalism. And to trust government. To feel more. And think less. To live for today. And not worry about tomorrow. Making it very difficult for the Republicans to get young voters to vote for them. As they are unknowledgeable (thanks to our public schools), inexperienced (because they are young) and prefer emotion over reason (because feeling is more fun than thinking). Which is why old fogies (the knowledgeable, experienced and thinking) vote Republican and the youth vote does not.

Border towns. It’s where people can escape high legal drinking ages. Laws against gambling. And bans on totally naked girls at strip bars serving alcohol. By simply crossing the border you can have all the fun your little heart desires. Even get yourself into a whole lot of trouble. Because most of this fun starts with young adults getting drunk. And drunk young adults have a penchant for making bad decisions.
One of these border towns is across the river from Detroit. Windsor. A small city that thrives on that cross-border traffic pouring millions into their local economy. But it’s just not the Americans having a really good time in downtown Windsor (see Health unit launches campaign to tackle binge drinking by Beatrice Fantoni posted 5/24/2013 on The Windsor Star).
Windsor is notorious for its busy bar scene but the public health unit wants to tone the binge drinking down just a little in the interests of long-term health…
A nasty hangover can last well past the weekend. Abusing alcohol today can have serious health repercussions years from now, in the form of increased cancer risk – most notably, breast cancer – or other serious illnesses such as high blood pressure, liver cirrhosis or stroke.
Using a set of guidelines for safe alcohol consumption developed by the National Alcohol Strategy Advisory Committee, the public health campaign – which eight other public health units in southwestern Ontario are also launching – involves the roll-out of a different poster every three months on topics such as what constitutes a safe serving size and the short- and long-term risks of heavy drinking.
The target population is the 25-44 age group and posters are being distributed to local bars, restaurants, gyms, workplaces, for example, McBeth said…
“The end result is going to be the same,” said Rich Kingsley, who used to own several restaurants in the city. When people head downtown for drinks, Kingsley said, they’re gonna binge.
Posters alone won’t help just like those graphic images on cigarette packages do little to dissuade smokers, he said. Policies like changing the legal drinking age or prohibiting smoking in public places have to go along with it, he said.
Raising the legal drinking age. Makes sense. Young adults make a bad decision to binge drink. And when they’re drunk they make even more bad decisions. Not to mention all of that health damage they’re causing. So raising the legal drinking age to allow these people to grow up and become mature and responsible sounds like a good idea. Good for them. And good for us. For our loved ones won’t make a bad decision with lasting consequences. Nor will we have to see them suffer some horrible disease later in life. Or pay the high costs of treating some horrible disease. How can you argue with that?
Can you imagine leaving this up to the young people? Say getting all the 15-21 year-olds together. And have them determine the new legal drinking age? Can you guess what they would say it should be? I’ll take a guess. They’ll probably say the legal drinking age should be 15. For if they’re responsible enough to vote, they’ll figure, they’re responsible enough to drink. Besides, what 15-year-old wouldn’t love to be able to walk into a party store and buy booze without a fake ID?
This is why we don’t let 15-year-olds vote. And why we should never let 15-year-olds vote. Because they are not wise enough, mature enough or responsible enough to do what’s best for them. In fact, we probably should raise the voting age. If people 25-44 are acting so irresponsibly by binge drinking perhaps we should just raise the voting age. Maybe not to 45. But definitely higher than 18. For it’s obvious these people put their immediate wants before their long-term best interests. Which explains how a country that is 21% liberal is being run by liberal Democrats.
Liberal Democrats get the youth vote. And what’s important to the youth? Having a good time. Which means decriminalizing pot. Free birth control. And access to abortion. Things the liberal Democrats tell these kids are the most important things in the world. And that the Republicans want to take them away from them. So they vote liberal Democrat. Until they have children of their own. Especially daughters. Then an all-girl Catholic school doesn’t look that bad. Because putting the fear of God into our kids is a good way of helping them make better decisions. And it will help prevent some boy from knocking up our daughters. Or giving them a venereal disease.
Perhaps we need a little less partying. And a little more religion in our lives. A little morality may make us drink less. Smoke less. Engage in sexual congress less. Resulting in fewer unplanned pregnancies. That will require fewer abortions. If we do that perhaps our young people can focus on more important things. Like getting a good education. Establishing a career. And starting a family. Things that are in their long-term best interests.

Parents spend a lot of time telling their kids ‘no’. Telling them not to smoke, drink or do drugs. And to wait until they are more mature before having sex. That’s why the Democrat Party attracts the youth vote. They are so not like their parents.
Democrats talk to our kids as if they are mature adults. Who want to help them to have sex by providing free birth control and access to abortion. Making the morning-after pill available to girls as young as 15 without a prescription. Even making contraception a women’s health issue during the 2012 election. Saying the Republicans wanted to make people pay for their own birth control. Which was, of course, code for taking it away.
For Republicans wanted to force women into loveless marriages. Turning them into baby factories. They didn’t want to empower women. They wanted to imprison women. Because they hate women. While the Democrats love women. (Some more than others.) Even encouraging them to explore their sexuality. (Preferably with enlightened Democrats who love women). Which was how you empowered a woman. Letting her have consequence-free sex. And if she develops a consequence there are things she could do to get rid of that consequence. With all of these resources available courtesy of Democrats there was nothing limiting the amount of sex young people could have. Making the Democrat Party the party for them. Which is why the Democrats remain the party of women. Even though their policies end up destroying women’s lives (see Sex Superbug Could Be ‘Worse Than AIDS’ by Mark Koba posted 5/2/2013 on CNBC).
An antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea—now considered a superbug—has some analysts saying that the bacteria’s effects could match those of AIDS.
“This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly,” said Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine…
“Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days,” Christianson said. “This is very dangerous…”
According to the CDC, about 20 million a year contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and result in about $16 billion in medical costs. More than 800,000 of STD cases reported are gonorrhea infections, with most occurring in people between the ages of 15 and 24.
Gonorrhea is transmitted through unprotected sexual contact. Untreated, the disease can cause a number of health complications in women, including infertility. In men, the disease can be very painful and lead to sterility. It can also trigger other life-threatening illnesses, including heart infections.
Gonorrhea can be hard to detect. It often shows no symptoms in about half of women and in about 5 percent of men. Gonorrhea infection rates were at historic lows until two years ago, according to the CDC…
But Smith said more needs to be done. In a briefing on Capitol Hill last week, he urged Congress to target nearly $54 million in immediate funding to help find an antibiotic for HO41 and to conduct an education and public awareness campaign.
“I’m hopeful we’ll get the additional funds, but I can’t say for sure,” Smith said. “What I do know is we don’t have the resources to fight this as it stands now.”
Avoiding the disease completely is the best course, experts said.
We actually have an education and public awareness campaign. We call it parenting. And if the Democrats haven’t been undermining parents in their parenting perhaps these kids would listen to them. But it’s hard to tell your kids to wait until you’re older and more mature before having sex when the government is providing free birth control in our high schools. And providing the morning-after pill to girls as young as 15 without a doctor’s prescription or parental notice. Because kids will be kids.
And then you have a liberal curriculum put together by the radicals of the Sixties. Teaching them to be different than their parents. Even blaming their greedy parents for trying to kill the planet with global warming. And attacking religion and our traditions as backward relics of a medieval past. The 1950s. So thanks to government and our educational system our parents have little moral authority with their kids. Who would much rather listen to their teachers, professors and government when it comes to sex. Because they say it’s okay. Which is why there has been an explosion in STDs (See Sex and the Superbug by Jerome Groopman posted 10/1/2012 on The New Yorker).
The sexual revolution of the nineteen-sixties ushered in rising rates of gonorrhea, as condoms, which effectively prevent transmission, were abandoned in favor of oral contraceptives. Only after the risk of death from AIDS began to increase, in the nineteen-eighties, did condom use again become a norm. A federally funded gonorrhea-control program, started in 1972, perhaps made a difference; by 1997, the number of yearly cases of gonorrhea reported to the C.D.C. had fallen by nearly three-quarters compared with its peak, in 1975. In 2009, the number of gonorrhea cases in the U.S. was at an all-time low. “Ten or fifteen years ago, we thought it was going to be eradicated in some Western countries,” Unemo told me…
The microbe carries specialized proteins that help it attach firmly to the surface of cells and other proteins that blunt a host’s immune-system response and prevent white blood cells from ingesting and degrading it. Together, these tools grant the gonococcus the ability to fasten to and invade the cells that line the human urethra, cervix, rectum, and throat, and the lining of the eyelid and eye.
In some respects, N. gonorrhoeae is a fragile organism; dry conditions, changes in temperature, and the ultraviolet rays in sunlight destroy it. As a result, it is transmitted only through intimate contact with body fluids; it doesn’t thrive on inanimate objects and can’t be picked up from toilet seats. Yet it is far more contagious than H.I.V. A woman who has unprotected sex with an H.I.V.-infected man has roughly a one-in-a-thousand chance of contracting the virus. The transmission rate among gay men having anal sex is an order of magnitude higher, about one in a hundred. In contrast, with gonorrhea a man has a twenty-five-per-cent chance of catching the microbe from an infected partner. For women, the odds are as high as sixty-six per cent.
The pill liberated women. And many unsuspecting women did not believe they had to be careful anymore. So they weren’t. They took their oral contraceptives. And if that failed they could get an abortion starting in 1973. Making the Seventies a magical time for men who wanted to play the field. And they did. Spreading disease. And it was the women who suffered the most from their sexual appetites. As an infected man infects two out of three women he has sex with.
Interestingly, the resurgence in gonorrhea corresponded with the Democrats winning the White House in 2008. With President Obama, Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House (until the 2010 midterm election) and Harry Read as majority leader in the Senate the country could move further to the left than ever before. There was nothing the Republicans could do to stop them. Case in point: Obamacare. Which is replete with free preventative health care measures that include birth control and abortion. The left was giddy with joy. And apparently they celebrated their even more consequence-free sex lives, appropriately, in the sack.
In effect, the human pharynx is a spawning ground for resistance… And, because pharyngeal gonorrhea rarely produces symptoms, it is more likely both to go untreated and to be passed on unknowingly.
A driving factor behind the rise in gonorrhea infections, as well as the trend toward total antibiotic resistance, is our complacent attitude toward oral sex…
In many circles, however, especially since the era of H.I.V., oral sex has been embraced as a safe alternative to intercourse… Recent statistics from Los Angeles County suggest that the proportion of pharyngeal to genital gonorrhea cases among adolescents has increased sevenfold since 1988…
According to the C.D.C., adolescents and young adults account for nearly half of all new cases of sexually transmitted disease, even though the group represents just twenty-five per cent of the sexually active population. The adaptive nature of the gonococcus, coupled with the prevalence of unprotected oral sex, all but insures that drug-resistant gonorrhea will eventually take root in the general heterosexual population. Unemo warned, “When you get into the population of young heterosexuals, it can very quickly spread.”
It turns out that consequence-free sex has some serious consequences. And these numbers are just shocking. Only 25% of the sexually active population is responsible for nearly half of all new STDs. The adolescents and young adults. Who overwhelmingly vote Democrat. A demographic exploited by the Democrats to remain in power. No matter how many lives they destroy. And yet they say the Republicans have a War on Women. Those sexual prudes who want their kids to refrain from having as much sex as the Democrats are encouraging them to have. Because they fear for the wellbeing of their children. As they understand the risks of sexual activity. They try to be good parents and protect their children. Especially their daughters who are paying the highest price of the Democrats’ Sexual Revolution. But it’s difficult to do when government and our educational system is fighting so strenuously to turn their kids against their parents.

We don’t adapt to Our Environment we adapt our Environment to Our Needs
In the springs birds mate. The female lays eggs. She sits on them in the nest to keep them warm. When they hatch she feeds her babies. The mother chases away predators that get too close to her babies. She teaches them to fly. And then boots them out of the nest. Where they go off to become adult birds. Then the mother does it all again next spring.
Birds are very smart at being birds. And the skills they need a mother can teach her offspring in a few months. It’s not quite the same with human offspring. Who receive more parenting than any other animal on the planet. For humans need about 20 years to reach full size. And even longer to gain full maturity. And knowledge. Taking 12 years of public education. Then a trade school. Or college. And real life experience. Years of knowledge and experience before they can leave the nest
Birds live in their environment. And adapt to it. Whereas humans are far more intelligent. We’re able to think. And use tools. We have grown wiser over time. Such that we don’t adapt to our environment. We adapt our environment to our needs. We mastered fire. Built shelter. Made clothing. We learned how to farm. And how to domesticate animals. We created tools. And built machines. Simple machines like levers and wheels. And advanced machines like airplanes and computers. Advancing our quality of life. We lived longer. And healthier. Things birds haven’t done. Which is why they can raise their offspring to adulthood in a few months.
At our High School Graduation we Probably Know only Half of what we will Learn in Life
Some people mature quicker. Some gain knowledge faster than others. Some people keep learning new knowledge. While some specialize in one area of knowledge. Like a skilled trade. Or medicine. And while focusing on mastering these areas of knowledge they may spend less time learning other things. Like history. Or economics. It is a complex world. Where highly learned and skilled people do remarkable things. But it takes time to learn the knowledge and skills to do these remarkable things. And there is always more knowledge to learn. No matter how learned and skilled we become.
There is a learning curve. We’re born with a blank slate. We learn a lot when young. How to eat. Drink. Go potty. Dress ourselves. Tie our shoes. Recite the alphabet. To talk. To obey. Learning the consequences of our actions. Things to help us in school. Where we learn the three Rs. Reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic. And how to think critically. To solve problems. To manage a household. We learn history. And rudimentary economics. To help us live in the real world. After we leave the nest. Some of us get a job out of high school. Some go to a trade school. While others go on to college. Or serve in the military. And even after we’ve left the nest we still have a lot to learn. And lot of experience to gain. Which is why we go to trade school and college. And the military. To keep acquiring knowledge. If we graphed this learning curve it would look something like this.
Note that the learning curve is steep in our youth. Before school our parents teach us everything they can. Then we continue our education in school. By the time we graduate from high school our learning curve begins to flatten out a little. As we may be settling on a career path. And focusing on the education for that career. But even at our high school graduation we probably know only half of what we will learn in life. Either from further education. Or real world experience. Also, few of us acquire all the knowledge we have the potential to learn. Which is why the learning curve flattens out in the 70% range. No one can learn everything there is to learn. But everyone can learn the maximum they have the potential to learn. Sadly, a lot of this forgone learning is history and economics. The kind of knowledge that makes a person less susceptible to a politician’s lies. Explaining why so many bad politicians win elections. And why they pass so many bad policies into law.
Young Liberals who still have so much to Learn vote as if they Know Everything
The learning curve flattens out in our twenties. And even more in our thirties. With our formal education complete we gain knowledge through experience. And from studying things that interest us. For our own enjoyment. Or to help us make better decisions. We read newspapers. Watch the news on television. Listen to AM radio. In our forties we are well established in our careers. And have long given up the idealism and childish pursuits of our youth. As we are raising our own children. Who are beginning to think they know everything. Who don’t want to listen to their old and out of touch parents any longer.
By our fifties we have lived a long life. And have seen a lot. We’ve heard the same political arguments through the years. And no longer fall for them. We come to learn that our parents were right about a lot of things after all. We become more conservative in our old age. Because we’ve seen what works. And what doesn’t. Often times it’s always the things that are less fun that are best for us. Of course trying to explain that to our children who know even more after earning a degree from a liberal college is next to impossible. So we accept that they, too, will have to learn this as they raise their own family. And get wise with age. Like we did.
The Left labels conservatives as a bunch of old people living in the past. Out of touch with the modern world. Something young liberals want no part of. So they naturally gravitate towards the Democrat Party. These young people who still have so much to learn. Who vote as if they know everything. The fact that the Democrats win elections based in large part on the youth vote says a lot about the Democrat Party. For they are the party of the uninformed voter. Which the Democrat Party acknowledges by expanding the role of government into our private lives. Because left to our own devices the Left believes that we won’t make good decisions. Unless, that is, we’re a teenage girl choosing to have an abortion. Then she is wise and knowledgeable beyond her years.

Here are two sad stories in one. Another senseless death due to stupid behavior of our young. And how the NHS let this kid die from his stupid behavior (see Student, 18, ‘downed a bottle of rum in 15 MINUTES for a bet before falling to his death down a flight of stairs’ by Emily Andrews and Ben Spencer posted 10/11/2012 on the Daily Mail).
Timothy Jarvis, 18, was in the first week of his maths degree when he downed an entire bottle of rum in 15 minutes for a bet.
The former grammar school boy then suffered fatal head injuries after tumbling down a flight of stairs at his university’s hall of residence.
Despite being taken to hospital, it was 90 minutes before he was assessed by a doctor and he died the next day.
How many of us did something as stupid as this in our youth? Only we were lucky enough not to have killed ourselves? And I stress the word ‘lucky’. Binge drinking. This is poor decision making. Poor understanding of the consequences of our actions. And a poor understanding of what’s important in life. This student had a promising future. He was not in university taking the easy courses just to party. He was taking one of the hard degrees. Who knows what he would have contributed to make the world a better place. What a senseless waste.
As a side note, these are the people that often swing elections. The youth vote. Who have a propensity for poor decision making. That’s why in most of the United States we don’t let these kids drink until after they turn 21. Put severe limits on them when they start driving. And charge them the highest car insurance rates. Because of their consistent poor decision making. Yet when they walk into the voting booth the Left would have us believe that they are the wisest and the most responsible people in the world. Because they vote for the party of birth control and abortion. And the party that is more inclined to decriminalize marijuana. Everything a growing young person wants to make life as fun as possible. While discarding the possible consequences of their actions. But doing things their parents warn them not to do often comes with consequences. While their votes often saddle the nation with the consequences of their foolish actions inside the voting booth. For the majority of people have issues that are more important to them than birth control, abortion and marijuana.
When paramedics arrived and found Mr Jarvis unconscious, they made a ‘red alert’ call to Colchester Hospital to warn them to expect a serious case.
But when they arrived at 12.35am, there was no trauma team to meet them, Mr Jarvis was left on a trolley in a corridor and was not assessed by a doctor for nearly 90 minutes.
NHS guidelines say every patient should be examined by a nurse within 15 minutes and by a doctor within an hour.
Imagine that. A hospital with an emergency department without a trauma team standing ready. If you’re wondering what the future of Obamacare is here it is. Cost cutting, long wait times and service rationing that leaves an emergency department at a hospital without a trauma team at the ready. And who helped pass Obamacare into law? That’s right. The youth vote. Who voted for Barack Obama in droves. Yet another example of poor decision making. That the rest of us will have to live with the consequences of their actions.
If we have age restrictions on drinking because the young are just not mature enough to drink at such a young age perhaps we should have an age restriction on voting. Letting young people vote only after they are mature enough to understand how to drink responsibly. Unless they’re serving in the military. Which should be the only exception due to their service to the country. And the incredible amount of discipline they acquire through their military training.

The Left always urges kids to vote the moment they turn 18. That it’s important they exercise their right to vote. Because their views and opinions are important. Because they haven’t become corrupted or jaded yet by politics. We need to listen to the young. Because they are our future. And not a bunch of doddering old people who vote just to protect their bank accounts, their homes, their children and their country. No, these people are just too old and blind to the progressive needs of our country. Maybe they knew what was important in their youth but they’re completely out of touch today. And therefore we need the young to help us move the nation forward. For they may be young but they’re smart, responsible and in touch with the important issues of the day (see Investigators suspect teen in fatal LI crash was ‘high’ by KIERAN CROWLEY, ERIN CALABRESE and DAN MANGAN posted 10/9/2012 on the New York Post).
Joseph Beer, 17, “was driving way too fast” right before the spectacular crash at about 3:40 a.m. yesterday on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County, a law-enforcement source said.
Authorities suspect Beer “was high” at the time the his new 2012 Subaru STI slid across a section of the highway known as Dead Man’s Curve and went sailing into a group of trees — totaling the car and ejecting all five people inside, the source said.
Only Beer survived — but killed instantly were his four recently graduated classmates from Richmond Hill HS in Queens, all of whom were 18 years old…
Because Beer only had a learner’s permit, he was barred from driving between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., from driving without a licensed 21-year-old driver in the car to supervise him, and from carrying any passengers under age 21 who were family members.
There but for the grace of God go I. We’ve all done stupid things in our youth. Despite things like this happening to someone we know or to someone in our community. But we are so stupid in our youth that we continue to do stupid things. Which is why we can’t drink until we’re 21. And can’t drive after 9 PM without a licensed 21-year-old (or older) driver to help us stop doing stupid things. But as much as we try to stop these stupid things from happening they do. Which is why car insurance is so expensive for young drivers. Because of the stupid things we do in our youth.
Had it not been for the youth vote Barak Obama would not have won the 2008 election. But if they’re not mature enough to drink until they’re 21 perhaps they’re not mature enough to vote either. President Obama’s Keynesian policies have devastated the economy. They caused a credit downgrade for the first time in history. We have had record trillion dollar deficits in each year of his presidency. We have a record debt thanks to his deficits. His stimulus bill rewarded campaign contributors while creating no ‘shovel ready’ jobs. His bailout of GM and Chrysler did what a normal bankruptcy filing would have done only without screwing the bond holders and giving the company to the UAW to bail out their pension plan while leaving the same structure in place that prevented them from selling vehicles profitably in the first place. His investments in green energy rewarded campaign contributors instead of creating jobs of the future. His attacks on oil have raised the price of gasoline and food. And his attack on coal is setting up the country for an energy future of rolling blackouts and outages.
A lot of old people understand this because they have experienced a lot of this before. They lived through the disaster of the Carter presidency. And the Morning in America of Ronald Reagan. They know that the pro-business policies of Warren Harding/Calvin Coolidge, JFK, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush produced both economic growth and increased tax revenue. And they’ve already lived through a decline in American Exceptionalism once during the Seventies and don’t want to live through it again now. Especially those who immigrated to the United States for a better life. And they’re seeing it decline again right before their eyes thanks to excessive government spending and attacks on success. Old people see this. They’ve experienced it. Which is why they vote the way they vote. Not for promises of free birth control or access to unlimited abortion services. Or the decriminalization of marijuana. Issues that weigh heavily on the minds of young voters. Which the Left knows. And exploits. Which is how they got Barack Obama elected. And put the nation into the precarious position it is now in.

Week in Review
Public education today is more about politics than education. Which is why charter schools often outperform public schools. Because the charter schools focus on education. While the public schools focus on politics (see A 20-year lesson posted 7/7/2012 on The Economist).
FOR decades too many educationalists have succumbed to the tyranny of low expectations, at least when it comes to those at the bottom of the heap. The assumption has been that the poor, often black, children living in some of the world’s biggest and richest cities such as New York, Los Angeles and London face too many challenges to learn. There was little hope that school could make any difference to their future unless the problem of poverty could first be “solved”, which it couldn’t.
Such attitudes consigned whole generations to the scrapheap. But 20 years ago, in St Paul, Minnesota, the first of America’s charter schools started a revolution. There are now 5,600 of them. They are publicly funded, but largely independent of the local educational bureaucracies and the teachers’ unions that live in unhealthy symbiosis with them.
Charter schools are controversial, for three reasons. They represent an “experiment” or “privatisation”. They largely bypass the unions. And their results are mixed. In some states—Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Missouri—the results of charter pupils in maths and English are significantly better than those of pupils in traditional public schools. In others—Arizona and Ohio—they have done badly.
Yet the virtue of experiments is that you can learn from them; and it is now becoming clear how and where charter schools work best. Poor pupils, those in urban environments and English-language learners fare better in charters (see article). In states that monitor them carefully and close down failing schools quickly, they work best. And one great advantage is that partly because most are free of union control, they can be closed down more easily if they are failing…
It is pretty clear now that giving schools independence—so long as it is done in the right way, with the right monitoring, regulation and safeguards from the state—works. Yet it remains politically difficult to implement. That is why it needs a strong push from national governments. Britain is giving school independence the shove it needs. In America, artificial limits on the number of charter schools must be ended, and they must get the same levels of funding as other schools.
It remains politically difficult to implement because public education has two goals. Generate union dues that can fund the Democrat Party. And to produce Democrat voters. The proof of the latter is that the youth vote goes to the Democrats. There’s a reason for that. And it’s the same reason why school kids hold picket signs with their striking teachers. These kids don’t understand life, politics or economics yet. They only know what their teachers tell them. Who are not exactly unbiased when it comes to their politics. Or their salary and benefit packages. Which they put before their students. At least, based on the success of the charter schools over the public schools.
There are a lot of great teachers in the public school system. But they aren’t all great. And it’s all but impossible to get rid of the bad teachers. Or to close the bad schools. And it’s impossible to pull the politics out of the educational curriculum. Kids today can barely name the Founding Fathers or explain what republican government is but they know everything about global warming. And everything bad America ever did as a nation. Which just doesn’t prepare students today for the high-tech economy.
Even the liberal elite admit public education is a failure by the fact that most of them have their kids in private school. And these are the people responsible for the failure of public education. They implemented their progressive views. Because they knew better than we did. Knew what was best for our kids. Yet when it comes to their own kids they don’t want anything to do with the train wreck they made of public education. If there was ever a vote of no-confidence for public education this is it. They don’t like. Want nothing to do with it. But it’s not only okay for our kids but it’s necessary to rescue our kids from our bad parenting. Because if the public schools weren’t there to make Democrat voters how can they trust parents to do that most important job?

Week in Review
It’s an election year. And both the Republicans and the Democrats are trying to garner the youth vote. By making it easy for them to accumulate a massive student loan debt for what may prove to be a worthless degree in today’s economy. Because of the highest unemployment since the Great Depression. If you compare the U-6 unemployment rates. Which is currently still north of 14%. So it’s hard for new college graduates to find a job. Especially for those with degrees in the liberal arts and the social sciences. Which just aren’t in high demand in a high-tech economy. But cheap student loans translate into happy students. Later they’ll be disgruntled college graduates. But the politicians don’t care about that. Because at the time of the election they’ll be happy and grateful students looking to thank someone with their vote (see How Cheap Federal Loans May Harm Students by Rick Newman posted 6/25/2012 on US News).
The cost of a college education has been rising by about 9 percent per year over the last decade, more than three times the overall rate of inflation…For many families, education inflation is more onerous than the skyrocketing cost of healthcare, since you can’t buy insurance that pays for college.
Several factors are pushing tuition costs up, including cutbacks in state funding and an increasing number of students competing for university spots. But another pernicious cause may be a sharp increase in financial aid available to students, especially federally subsidized grants and loans…
That’s a huge commitment to college education, and a seemingly smart way for Washington to prioritize spending. Yet many experts say that all that aid artificially increases demand for a college education and the money available to pay for it, which pushes prices up. There was a disturbing parallel in the housing market a few years ago, when interest rates kept artificially low by the Federal Reserve, along with lax lending standards, generated a flood of money available for mortgages. That helped push home values far above healthy levels, creating the housing bubble that began to burst in 2006, triggering a brutal recession.
Employment at colleges and universities, meanwhile, has increased consistently over the last decade, in sharp contrast to the cutbacks that have occurred throughout the private sector and in state and local government. That suggests that there’s little cost pressure forcing universities to become more efficient, as many companies have been forced to do.
No one ever talks about the education bubble. But after the subprime mortgage crisis we had a Congressional investigation and passed new regulations (Dodd-Frank). And to address the high cost of health care we’ve attacked doctors, hospitals, private health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. Even passed Obamacare (by saying the tax wasn’t a tax). Yet educational costs are rising higher than even health care (at least from a parent’s perspective) and there’s no Congressional inquiry to find out why. There are no administrators called before Congress to explain their excessive spending or the exploding costs of tuition that pays for that spending. Or why they are even hiring more people while the private sector gets by with fewer people. No. Higher education gets a pass. Why?
Because our colleges and universities teach our young students the most important thing in life. To vote Democrat. That’s why higher education gets a pass. The Democrats always do well with the young and the college educated. Especially those in the liberal arts and the social sciences. Those courses without a lot of math. Leaving the students a lot of time to have the time of their lives. And to participate in the political activities of their leftist professors. Those professors in the liberal arts and social sciences.
Still, the Republicans hope by making this a bipartisan action that they will deny some of these student voters from the Democrat column come election day. Showing they can pander just as well as the Democrats.

Carnegie and Rockefeller were able to make the World Better because of Capitalism and Free Markets
Liberals campaign hard to get the youth vote. Before the young grow up and become responsible adults. Lose their youthful idealism. And their ignorance of rudimentary economics. Kids graduating from high school don’t know much about economics. They don’t know that JFK was a tax cutter just like Ronal Reagan. And that those tax cuts stimulated real economic growth. They don’t know any of this. But they know who Al Gore is. And will read you the riot act whenever you do anything that will increase your carbon footprint on this planet.
Those who go on to college build on their liberal high school education. Where they don’t learn about how Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller created the modern nation we know today. Carnegie made steel plentiful and inexpensive. Allowing us to build the skyscrapers in our cities. Rockefeller made kerosene so plentiful and inexpensive that he put the whale oil industry out of business. Saving the whales. And gave us plentiful and inexpensive gasoline for our automobiles. Providing fuel for our trains and planes. Giving us the freedom to travel anywhere. Visiting big cities like New York. Where many of the great skyscrapers built with Carnegie steel are still standing today.
Carnegie and Rockefeller are just two entrepreneurs who changed the world. And greatly increased our standard of living. Who were free to make the world a better place because of capitalism and free markets. Instead of working for a paycheck like most people do they took risks and created things. Better steel. And better fuel. As well as jobs. Lots and lots of jobs. So people could work for a paycheck. Why did they take these great risks? Because the possibility of getting rich is a great incentive. Which is why aspiring actors go to Los Angeles and starve. Hoping to get a break. Get discovered. So they can become rich. Which is why people buy lotto tickets. To become rich. For it appears everyone wants to get rich. But there is a difference when people like Carnegie and Rockefeller get rich. Everyone lives a better life when they do. Not just the movie star or the lotto winner.
Students live College Life to the Fullest and Pursue Degrees that won’t take up too much of their Time
So what do they learn in college? That capitalism isn’t fair. Corporations are evil. But communism and socialism are good. Government intervention into the free markets is good. And, of course, those who do learn economics only learn Keynesian economics. The school of economics that favors government interventionism into private markets. And that great industrialists like Carnegie and Rockefeller were greedy and exploited their workers. While communism and socialism protected their workers. Which is another failing of our educational system. Students don’t learn what an abject failure communism was. Both as an economic system. And on human rights. They don’t learn that. Or that a lot of rich industrialists like Carnegie and Rockefeller spent the last years of their lives giving away the wealth they amassed. Like some of America’s rich continue to do today. As exemplified by Bill Gates.
No. Their education is a poor one. Which explains why the Indians and Chinese are passing American students by. The goal of American public education is not to produce high test scores. But to indoctrinate students into being good Democrat voters. So those in the public sector unions can continue to earn more in pay and benefits than their counterparts in the private sector. Another fact they don’t teach these young students. They keep these students young and dumb as long as possible. And the government helps. By focusing on the things important to these students. Lenient drug laws. Birth control. And abortion. To make sure their first time living away from their parents is a good time. A fun time. And to make sure that they understand that Democrat political candidates aren’t like their parents. Those buzz kills. Whose favorite word in their vocabulary is ‘no’. Not the Democrats. They like the word ‘yes’. As in “yes we can.” And yes you can. Do whatever young people with raging sex drives like to do. And they do.
They live college life to the fullest. Many pursuing degrees that won’t take up too much of their time. Taking less science and math like the Indians and the Chinese. Because those are hard and require a lot of homework. Instead they pursue degrees in women’s studies. Minority studies. Family studies. American studies. Communications. Film. Psychology. Philosophy. Things that are fun and have no math. Allowing a lot of fun when outside of the classroom. But are absolutely worthless in the high-tech economy. The only employment opportunities for these degrees is to become a professor and teach other students these worthless degrees.
It turns out Liberalism is a Lie used to maintain a Privileged Class
So when these college graduates can’t get a job that’ll make them rich overnight they get angry. And struggle to pay down the mountain of debt that paid for those worthless degrees. Of course it’s not their fault. Or the universities who sold them those worthless degrees. It’s Wall Street’s fault. Those evil rich people who don’t pay their fair share in taxes. That somehow if they only paid more in taxes they could find gainful employment.
And when the young start working for a living they discover taxes. From property taxes to payroll taxes to income taxes. Which are a lot of taxes. And when they start raising a family they start paying attention to what’s on television. Which was fine when they were partying in their youth. But somehow isn’t right now that they are parents. They start thinking about the things they did in their youth. And how to hide it from their kids.
And when there are ballot initiates to raise taxes to pay for budget deficits at the city and state level they pay attention to what caused these deficits. And they don’t like what they learn. Public sector pensions and health care benefits that are far greater than theirs. Worse, they are not only paying for theirs (through a payroll deduction and/or lower pay) they’re paying for these generous public sector benefits via ever increasing taxes. And they will be paying these taxes for a long time as few will be able to retire until they’re well into their sixties. Working some 40-50 years. While public sector retirees can enjoy their more generous benefits after only working some 20-30 years.
Which is why as liberals gain knowledge and experience they become conservatives. Because young and dumb was fun in their youth. But everyone has to grow up. And learn that their parents were right. Which is why a lot of people grow up to become conservative like their parents. But few conservatives become liberals. Because as it turns out liberalism is a lie. It is just a means to maintain a privileged class. Where life is great within the privileged class. Where you can retire after 20-30 years and receive generous pensions and health care benefits. But it sucks for those outside that privileged class who have to pay for it. Which is why public education is not about test scores. But producing good Democrat voters. To maintain that privileged class. Because education is in that privileged class.

Women take Birth Control Pills to have Sex without it resulting in the Miracle of Life or a Real Inconvenience
The human body is a complex machine with one biological purpose. To propagate the species. That is, to make babies. Humans may have other purposes. Depending on your religion. Or lack thereof. But biologically speaking everything we do as humans is to sustain our lives so we can make babies. Just like other animals on this planet. And all organisms that lay eggs or give live birth. At the most basic level we are just baby-making machines. It’s the natural order of things. Our biological purpose. Which explains why we have a sex drive. And why we spade and neuter stray cats.
The great George Michael explained this sex drive well in song (excerpted here):
But most of all
Sex is something we should do
Sex is something for me and you
Sex is natural
Sex is good
Not everybody does it
But everybody should
Sex is natural
sex is fun
Sex is best when it’s one on one
(From George Michael’s I Want Your Sex.)
Not familiar with George Michael? Am I dating myself? Just ask your parents who George Michael is. Chances are your mom will make a face or a sound you don’t want to see or hear as she recalls a primeval lust from yesteryear. But this is sex. And it’s all these things for one reason. Biologically speaking, that is. To start up that biological machine. And to make it do what it was meant to do. Make babies.
Now there are those who want to alter the natural order of things. Who enjoy having sex. Lots and lots of sex. In fact, they can’t get enough of that sex. But they don’t want the natural output of that biological machine. So they practice birth control. Men wear condoms. Women take birth control pills. Among other things. To prevent all of that fun from resulting in the miracle of life. Or a real inconvenience. Depending on your religious views. Or lack thereof.
Women who have Abortions have Higher Incidences of Breast Cancer than Women who take Birth Control Pills or who have Babies
Cigarettes introduce unnatural chemicals into the human body. Harming the human body. So the government places great sin taxes on them to dissuade us from smoking. They warn us of the dangers to scare us into not smoking. And they sue the tobacco companies because they have lots of money. And blame them for kids smoking. Not their music, movie and television heroes. (What guitar hero doesn’t have a cigarette dangling from their lips as they play?) Eating poorly can harm the human body, too. And government is now taking steps to protect people from bad food. Not quite like they do with cigarettes. Yet. But they are working in that direction.
Obamacare is forcing people to buy health insurance. Because, they say, many of us are harming ourselves through poor lifestyle choices. Such as smoking. Or eating poorly. And it’s not fair that we go to the emergency room for free health care. Because it just makes health insurance more expensive for those who do buy it. To cover the costs for all of those uninsured emergency room visits. So Obamacare wants to use the heavy hand of government to make people either make better lifestyle choices. Or pay for the consequences of their poor lifestyle choices.
A recent study has shown links between rising incidences of breast cancer and the lack of using breasts for their biological purpose. Feeding babies. Women who bottle feed have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who breast feed. Women who take birth control pills have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who have babies. And women who have abortions have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who take birth control pills. The study indicates that it’s the interruption of the natural biological process of converting the breast tissue to produce milk causing the increase in the incidences of breast cancer. And stopping the conversion of tissue after the process starts (i.e., having an abortion) has the most harmful affect on the breast tissue. Leaving mutated cells that become cancerous.
Any Political Candidate that Helps Young People have Sex is Sure to get their Vote
Obamacare includes provisions that require insurance providers to provide birth control and abortion. They call these women’s health issues. Because the ‘miracle of life’ or that ‘great inconvenience’ (depending on your religious views or lack thereof) can be very harmful if carried to term. Thus fulfilling the natural order of things. The biological purpose of our human machines. So Obamacare discourages us from smoking and eating poorly because of the costly and harmful consequences of these lifestyle choices. But they encourage another potentially harmful lifestyle choice. Having sex without making babies. Which may increase the incidences of breast cancer. The very program that is supposed to make us choose healthier lifestyles and accept the consequences of poor lifestyle choices encourages women to choose an unhealthy lifestyle that may give them breast cancer. Or a venereal disease. Which may happen with all that sex with multiple partners. Unless they’re following the advice of George Michael. And keeping it one on one.
Of course, these are primeval views. Much like that primeval sex drive. Only we’re supposed to get over our primeval views on making babies. So women are free to enjoy careers. And have as much consequence-free sex as they desire. Something that pleases a lot of men. Probably more men than women. Especially young men. Who have one thing on their mind. And couldn’t ask for anything more than free-spirited and empowered women with access to all the women’s health products and services she so desires. And any political candidate that helps these young people to have as much sex as they want is sure to get their vote. So it’s no surprise that the Democrats get the youth vote. Because the Democrats are so unlike these kids’ parents.
So women demand their birth control. For their health. And demand that their health insurance plans pay for it. Or the taxpayers. Because it’s an issue of women’s health. That we can address in no other way. (Excluding abstinence, marriage, paying for your own birth control, etc.) In fact they say it’s no different than men’s erectile dysfunction (ED) pills. But there is a slight difference. The ED pills try to restore a biological function. Whereas birth control tries to prevent one. ED pills tries to restore the human baby-making machine. While birth control pills tries to shut that machine down. Contrary to the natural order. And our biological purpose.
