Condom use falls and HIV Infections rise in South Africa

Week in Review

The left is intolerant of so many things.  Cigarettes.  Sugary beverages.  Hamburgers.  And our lack of exercising, our insufficient consumption of fresh fruits & vegetables and our unwillingness to buy electric cars.  So they have implemented a lot of taxes, subsidies and regulations to alter our behavior.  To make us behave more ‘correctly’.  And they are always telling us what we should and what we should not do.  Except when it comes to sex and drugs.  No.  Here they pass out free birth control.  And make marijuana legal in Colorado and Washington.  Despite all of that unfiltered first, second and third-hand smoke.  Odd how these things pose no risk to us unlike drinking a large sugary beverage.

And it’s just not in the United States.  All around the world those on the left are telling their people how to live correctly.  Except, of course, when it comes to drugs.  And sex.  Because kids are going to have sex no matter what we say.  And if we tell them they shouldn’t it’s only going to make them want to have sex more.  Although it is funny that argument doesn’t hold up for cigarettes, sugary beverages, hamburgers, etc.  No.  For these they can roll up a newspaper and whack us across the nose all day long.  Figuratively, of course.  But when it comes to sex it’s more of a, “Whoa, now, let’s not say anything hasty here.  For who are we to say what is right or wrong for an individual?”  But with rising HIV infections perhaps we should be telling our sons and daughters that something bad can happen from having sex.  And they would be better off if they didn’t have so much of it before entering into a monogamous, long-term relationship.  For if we did and they did over 10% of our populations would not be infected with HIV (see Condoms rebranded in South Africa as HIV infections rise by AFP) posted 4/3/2014 on Yahoo! News).

South Africa is seeking to rebrand its free condoms to appeal to young people after a new study showed rising HIV infections and flagging contraception use, the health department said on Thursday…

South Africa has the world’s highest number of people living with HIV, a crisis that has seen millions of people placed on a vast state-sponsored treatment programme.

Around 6.4 million people — 12.2 percent of the population — were living with HIV or AIDS in 2012.

During the Eighties we didn’t know any better about HIV.  But we do now.  Even young people.  It’s why we give them free condoms.  Because of the risk of HIV (among other risks).  So it’s frustrating to see risky behavior in young people.  Especially those living in a nation with the highest number of people living with HIV.  When 12.2% of the population lives with HIV or AIDS it can’t be a secret that HIV is a serious risk.  But young people still engage in risky behavior.  Which is useful to those on the left.  For it helps them win elections.  For they are the cool party that doesn’t think drugs are all that bad.  And that a little promiscuity isn’t going to kill you.  “You’ll be fine,” they say on the left.  “As long as you don’t smoke a cigarette, drink a sugary beverage or eat a hamburger you should be able to enjoy all the sex and drugs you want to.  Because sex and drugs can’t hurt you.  Only those other things can.  Well, those things.  And global warming.  Those are the things to worry about.  Not catching HIV or AIDS.”  At least this is the message they’re giving our kids.

Knowledge + Experience + Reason = Republican Votes

Posted by PITHOCRATES - February 13th, 2014

Politics 101

The Democrat Party is the Cool Uncle that buys Booze and Cigarettes for his Nieces and Nephews

People characterize the Republicans as being a bunch of old fogies.  Out of touch.  Who don’t have a clue about the world today.  Unlike their children do.  Who are wise beyond their years.  For they know there is nothing really bad with underage drinking and smoking.  Smoking marijuana.  Or doing other drugs.  And there is nothing wrong with casual sex.  Sexting.  Or nude selfies.

This is why the children of old fogies like the Democrat Party.  Because the Democrats get them.  Unlike their parents.  Their parents tell them they shouldn’t stay out late, drink, smoke, do drugs or have sex.  While the Democrats decriminalize marijuana and work to decriminalize other drugs.  Provide free birth control.  And abortion without parental notification.  Making the Democrat Party the cool uncle that buys booze and cigarettes for his nieces and nephews.  So is it any wonder that the youth vote goes Democrat?

The ironic thing, though, is that these old fogies were once young themselves.  And some were pretty wild in their youth, too.  But once they became parents things changed.  For when it’s their daughter they don’t want her being objectified.  Encouraged to explore her sexuality by having so much casual sex that she catches a sexually transmitted disease or gets pregnant.  Especially if they did in their youth.  Which is the last thing they want for their little girl.  Who is and will forever remain their little girl.

Keynesian Economics conditioned People to accept that Government knows Best

This is the rule.  Not the exception.  As kids grow up fighting their parents they reach a point in life where they realize that their parents were right all along.  That if they had only spent more time on their homework and less time partying things would have turned out better.  Life may have been less fun in the short-run but much better in the long-run.  They’d had an earlier start in their career.  A career with better pay and benefits.  They could have bought a house sooner.  Met someone to marry and start a family with sooner.  Instead of finding themselves at 25 buried under student loan debt for a degree that can’t get them a job.  And a decade or so of hooking up having conditioned men to shun any serious commitment.  Leading their daughters to turn to serial dating and online dating.  As they struggle to find someone else who has grown up, too.

This is what the old fogies know.  That their kids don’t.  You get wiser with age.  Thanks to education.  And experience.  Two things the young just don’t have.  And never will.  Because by the time they grow wise from education and experience they are no longer kids.  But well on their way to ‘old fogery’.  Which is, of course, a problem for the Democrat Party.  For a wise voting public will not help them win elections.  As their Keynesian economic policies have nothing but a long record of failure.  Giving us the Great Depression, the stagflation of the 1970s, the dot-com recession and the Great Recession.  To name a few bad economic times Keynesian economics have given us.  Things older people know from education and experience.  But the kids voting Democrat don’t.

Keynesian economics ushered in the era of Big Government.  And did something the Socialists could not.  Conditioned people to accept that government knows best.  Especially young people.  Uneducated and inexperienced young people.  Despite the Democrats’ horrible record concerning things economic.  Because of this record the Democrats use lies and deceit to attack free market capitalism.  That economic system that worked better than any other.  To get people who knew no better to mistrust free market capitalism.  And ask for the government to fetter unfettered capitalism.  To make the world a fairer place.

The Democrats use Public Education to teach our Kids to Distrust Capitalism and to Trust Government

It sounds good to the inexperienced and uneducated.  Because it feels good to think in terms of fairness.  And if there is one thing the young have are emotions.  They like to use their hearts.  Not their brains.  As they are idealistic and naïve.  Unlike those old fogies who are realists.  They can’t be fooled or swayed by the Democrat lies because they have learned and experienced a lot in their long lives.  And heard the same old Democrat lies all through those long lives.  Which is why the Democrats work so hard on the youth vote.  The War on Women, their lax drug attitudes, birth control, abortion, gay rights…all of these are to get the young to think in terms of fairness.  To tug on their heartstrings.  To get them emotional.  And keep them emotional.  As well as ignorant.

The more ignorant people are the easier it is to lie to them.  Anyone who knows the history of Western Civilization will understand how life became better for people as we moved closer to free market capitalism.  Anyone who knows classical economics will understand how thrift, savings, free trade, sound money, etc., made America the number one economy in the world.  While the Keynesian policies of today are threatening to knock America out of that number one spot.  People who understand these things are not going to vote Democrat.  Which is why the Democrats work hard to keep people from learning these things.  By constantly lying about them.  And not teaching them in the institutions they control.  Our public schools.  And our institutions of higher education.

The Republican equation for winning votes is a difficult equation.  Knowledge + Experience + Reason = Republican Votes.  It’s difficult because the Democrats have long controlled public education.  Thanks to their friends in the teacher unions.  And their friends running our institutions of higher education.  Which spend more time teaching our kids to distrust capitalism.  And to trust government.  To feel more.  And think less.  To live for today.  And not worry about tomorrow.  Making it very difficult for the Republicans to get young voters to vote for them.  As they are unknowledgeable (thanks to our public schools), inexperienced (because they are young) and prefer emotion over reason (because feeling is more fun than thinking).  Which is why old fogies (the knowledgeable, experienced and thinking) vote Republican and the youth vote does not.

The Left says Smoking Cigarettes and Drinking Alcohol are bad for you but Smoking Marijuana is OK

Posted by PITHOCRATES - December 28th, 2013

Week in Review

You hear it all the time.  Smoking marijuana is no worse than drinking alcohol.  So we should decriminalize it everywhere.  And allow responsible adults smoke marijuana if they choose.  While at the same time they have banned smoking cigarettes just about everywhere outside of your own home.  Because smoking will kill you.  And anyone near you.  Funny how smoking cigarettes will kill you and anyone near you while smoking marijuana is no worse than enjoying a refreshing adult beverage.

What’s even funnier is that as they continue to make statements like smoking marijuana is no worse than drinking alcohol they are ramping up a war on alcohol.  As drinking alcohol is killing people at record numbers (see Raising the price of booze saves lives and money. Scotland is right to try it posted 12/21/2013 on The Economist).

AMONG man’s earliest artefacts are vessels to store and carry booze. Drunk from Stone Age jugs or Etruscan amphoras, fermented sugars have brought cheer for more than 12,000 years. And headaches too: alcohol stokes rage and gloom as well as jollity and dancing. For liberal-minded types, the downsides are a personal matter—we should be free to frolic.

Within limits. Where the harm extends beyond the individual, there is a case for intervention. Global alcohol consumption is stable. But some people are tippling more, in ways that hurt themselves and others (see article).

At stake are not just vomit-drenched streets. Deaths linked to drinking have tripled since 1990; in that time alcohol has gone from the sixth to the third leading cause of death and disability worldwide. The bill lands on everyone, as does booze-fuelled violence. Including lost output, the harm from alcohol costs Europe and America around 1.5% of national income.

The problem is worsening. Across the rich world, a small share of the population consumes a large share of the liquor. One reason is that many young people have upped their intake. More drinkers are also bingeing—even in southern Europe, where alcohol used to be taken mainly with food…

The best way to tackle excessive drinking is to raise prices through taxes levied on a drink’s strength, so that the most harmful drinks are more expensive. The resulting price-rise should cut the consumption of hard-up heavy topers (who are particularly partial to dirt-cheap supermarket booze) and young drinkers, who can afford only what’s cheap…

Public-health laws often require an unpopular move at the start, but new habits and attitudes can take root surprisingly quickly. A ban on smoking in restaurants and pubs seemed outlandish—until New York City introduced one in 2003. Much of the world quickly followed suit. Even diehard liberals like this newspaper, queasy at first about smoking bans, or mandatory crash helmets and seat belts, would hesitate to scrap those regulations now.

We are drinking ourselves to death three times as much as we were in the 1990s.  And one reason why is that young people are drinking more.  In fact many of the binge drinkers are young people.  It is less uncommon to read about a binge-drinking related death on a college campus.  It’s not happening all of the time but there are deaths.  And sexual assaults.

Getting a woman drunk has long been a prelude to sex.  That’s what singles’ bars were for.  Drinking to lower a woman’s inhibitions.  To get her to go home with a strange man for consensual sex.  But at a party on a college campus?  There’s no need to go home.  For there is always a bedroom or a couch or a floor available in a fraternity house, apartment or dorm room.  And young men with raging hormones in a sexualized culture will take advantage of a passed out college coed.  Even doing terrible things to her as she lay unconscious.  Or getting a video of her while she’s still conscious doing things she’d never do sober.  And posting it online.  Causing great pain and suffering for the girl.

Smoking marijuana will be no different than people enjoying alcohol.  So we should decriminalize it.  For what bad thing ever happened from enjoying alcohol?

Marijuana is a young person’s intoxicant.  We’ve all seen the stoner movies where high school teachers have to deal with stoners.  Like Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  And this was when the drug was illegal everywhere in the United States.  Imagine the Jeff Spicolis when the drug is decriminalized everywhere.  While being more potent than ever.  If new habits and new attitudes can take root surprisingly quickly then existing habits and attitudes and law should be just as easy to remain rooted.  Especially for marijuana.  For it combines the reckless abandon of youths to over consume like alcohol.  And the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes.

Would the left sacrifice our young just to get their vote?  Yes.  Of course they will.  And are.  For do you really think they care if these people die after they grow up and begin acting—and voting—responsibly?

Decriminalize Marijuana and the Kids will Smoke more and Eventually Vote Democrat

Posted by PITHOCRATES - July 28th, 2013

Week in Review

Teenagers typically vote Democrat.  In part because of the liberal bias in our public schools.  And in our colleges.  As well as in the mainstream media.  In Hollywood.  In television.  And the music industry.  These things do a lot to shape the way our kids think.  But there is another reason why our kids become Democrat voters.  Because it is the left that is handing out free birth control.  While their parents say ‘no’ the left says ‘go ahead.  Have fun.’  And then there is the push by the left to decriminalize marijuana.  Something else these kids’ parents say ‘no’ to.  While the left says ‘go ahead.  Have fun.’  Even if it may be harmful to them.  For what’s a few burnt brain cells in exchange for the youth vote (see Pot’s march toward mainstream by Alicia A. Caldwell And Nancy Benac, The Associated Press, posted 7/27/2013 on The Vancouver Sun)?

It is a moment in the U.S. that is rife with contradictions: People are looking more kindly on marijuana even as science reveals more about the drug’s potential dangers, particularly for young people…

Exploration of the potential medical benefit is limited by high U.S. government hurdles to research. Washington policy-makers seem reluctant to deal with any of it.

So we know it’s bad for the children.  But we really don’t know how bad.  For it is the only medicine (medical marijuana) ever allowed without proving the drug through clinical trials.  To make sure the drug works.  And it doesn’t cause irrevocable harm.  No pharmaceutical is allowed this luxury when bringing a new drug to market.  And we know how dangerous cigarettes and alcohol are.  But not marijuana.  No.  That drug we just accept on faith that it will cure us.  Besides just giving us a great high.

Opponents of pot are particularly worried that legalization will result in increased use by young people.

“There’s no real win on this from a political perspective,” says Sabet. “Do you want to be the president that stops a popular cause, especially a cause that’s popular within your own party? Or do you want to be the president that enables youth drug use that will have ramifications down the road?”

If anyone legalizes it will be the left.  Who are always attacking the right for hating children whenever they say we can’t afford to spend any more money.  But smoking pot harms kids.  And the left is okay with that.

“Having a regulated system is the only way to ensure that we’re not ceding control of this popular substance to the criminal market and to black marketeers,” says Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association, a trade group for legal pot businesses in the U.S. See Change Research, which analyzes the marijuana business, has estimated the national U.S. market for medical marijuana alone at $1.7 billion for 2011 and has projected it could reach $8.9 billion in five years. Overall, marijuana users spend tens of billions of dollars a year on pot, experts believe…

In Washington state, the Liquor Control Board is drawing up rules covering everything from how plants will be grown to how many stores will be allowed. It expects to issue licences for growers and processors in December, and impose 25 per cent taxes three times over – when pot is grown, processed and sold to consumers…

Marijuana advocates in Washington state…have projected the legal pot market could bring the state a half-billion a year in revenue…

Decriminalizing marijuana will make it easier for kids to smoke it.  Because it’s easier to get things that are only illegal for people under a legal age.  As opposed to being completely illegal.  Kids aren’t legally allowed to smoke cigarettes but they do.  In fact, it is fair to say kids smoke more cigarettes than marijuana.  Because cigarettes aren’t completely illegal.  They’re only illegal for kids.

So cities suffering under the crushing costs of their public sectors are looking at a windfall of tax revenue by decriminalizing marijuana.  And don’t seem to have a problem of people spending more of their money on getting high instead of saving for their retirement.  Paying for their kids’ education.  Or putting food on the table.  It was the same thing when cities scrambled to legalize gambling.  Because they wanted the tax revenue.  Despite people gambling away money that they should have spent on their family.  No doubt these cities would be disappointed if more kids didn’t start smoking marijuana.  So that when they grew into adults they would already have a healthy drug habit the city could tax.  To help pay for the crushing costs of their public sectors.

Of course, the states and cities will never see those rosy projections of tax revenue.  Because when they “impose 25 per cent taxes three times over” they will raise the price of legal marijuana so much that it will benefit, not hurt, the black market for marijuana.  Even if the black market price is below the official taxed price.  Why?  Because people smuggling cigarettes from a low-tax state to a high-tax state don’t do the time drug dealers do when caught.  Encouraging more people to sell a legal substance illegally.  To cheat the state out of that tax revenue.  And pot smokers, especially the kids, will turn to the black market for their pot.  Where it will be even more readily available when the growing, transporting and selling of marijuana is no longer illegal.  Like cigarettes.  Which kids have no problem buying.

California steps back California’s experience with medical marijuana offers a window into pitfalls that can come with wider availability of pot.

Dispensaries for medical marijuana have proliferated in the state, and regulation has been lax, prompting a number of cities in the state to ban dispensaries…

In May, the California Supreme Court ruled that cities and counties can ban medical marijuana dispensaries.

A few weeks later, Los Angeles voters approved a ballot measure that limits the number of pot shops in the city to 135, down from an estimated high of about 1,000. By contrast, whitepages. com lists 112 Starbucks in the city…

In 2010, California voters opted against legalizing marijuana for recreational use, drawing the line at medical use.

But Jeffrey Dunn, a Southern California lawyer who has represented cities in pot cases, says that in reality the state’s dispensaries have been operating so loosely that already “it’s really all-access.”

“What we’ve learned is, it is very difficult if not impossible to regulate these facilities,” he said.

The people may have voted for marijuana in California.  But the people didn’t like living in a Cheech and Chong movie surrounded by stoners.  And seeing a pot shop every time they turned around.  Which is the last thing a parent wants.  To have it so much easier for their kids to smoke pot.  Or eat it.

A Denver-area hospital, for example, saw children getting sick after eating treats and other foods made with marijuana in the two years after a 2009 federal policy change led to a surge in medical marijuana use, according to a study in JAMA Pediatrics in May. In the preceding four years, the hospital had no such cases.

The Colorado Education Department reported a sharp rise in drugrelated suspensions and expulsions after medical marijuana took off.

“What we’re doing is not working,” says Dr. Christian Thurstone, a psychiatrist whose Denver youth substance abuse treatment centre has seen referrals for marijuana double since September. In addition, he sees young people becoming increasingly reluctant to be treated, arguing that it can’t be bad for them if it’s legal.

You decriminalize marijuana and, of course, kids will see that as an admission from the state that smoking pot can’t be bad for you.  So more kids use the drug.  Ending up in the hospital.  Getting suspended or expelled from school.  Or in drug rehab for a pot addiction.  But the left is okay with this.  Because, after all, it is the right that hates kids.  Whereas the left is the cool uncle that will let their niece and/or nephew smoke a joint.  Which is why the kids love the left.  They are always helping them do things their parents won’t let them do.

Legalization foes Opponents counter with a 2012 study finding that regular use of marijuana during teen years can lead to a long-term drop in IQ, and another study indicating marijuana use can induce and exacerbate psychotic illness in susceptible people. They question the notion that regulating pot will bring in big money, saying revenue estimates are grossly exaggerated…

They warn that baby boomers who draw on their own innocuous experiences with pot are overlooking the much higher potency of today’s marijuana.

In 2009, concentrations of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in pot, averaged close to 10 per cent in marijuana, compared with about four per cent in the 1980s, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

So the left will sacrifice our children for money.  So they can pay for those costly public sectors breaking their budgets.  They won’t take on the public sector unions.  But they will sacrifice our kids.  Because kids don’t pay taxes.  Or vote.  Yet.  But when they do they hope they will remember their cool uncle when in the voting booth.

The baby boomers, who filled the theaters watching Cheech and Chong movies, look back to their days of pot smoking with nostalgia.  Thinking they turned out all right.  And so will the younger generation.  As they anxiously wait for the decriminalization of marijuana so they can buy more.  And smoke more.  Loving the high potency of the new stuff.  Not at all like the stuff they grew up smoking.  Which still fried their brains.  Providing a head start to what dementia will do to them as they reach their golden years.

Kids will on average start smoking at an earlier age.  More of them will smoke because if it’s legal it can’t be bad for you.  And they will be smoking a more potent marijuana than their parents smoked.  Accelerating the damage pot smoking will do to them compared to what it did to their parents.  But the left is okay with that.  Because it is the right that hates the children.  Not the cool uncle.  At least that’s how the youth vote will see it.  Which is all that matters to the left.

A lot of Teenagers are Making Bad Decisions such as Voting Democrat

Posted by PITHOCRATES - June 9th, 2012

Week in Review

The Democrats go after the youth vote.  In fact they would lower the voting age if they could.  The lower the better.  Because young people make so many bad decisions.  Which is why the Democrats can count on their vote (see One-third of U.S. teens report texting while driving: CDC by David Beasley posted 6/7/2012 on Reuters).

One in three high school students reported they had texted or emailed while driving during the previous 30 days, according to the centers’ 2011 youth risk behavior survey of 15,000 high school students…

In 2010, auto accidents killed 3,115 teens aged 13-19, the CDC said. That was down 44 percent over the past decade, but auto accidents remain the leading cause of teen deaths…

The risk behavior survey found that while cigarette smoking dropped slightly from 2009-2011, more teens smoked marijuana, with 23.1 percent of students saying they had used it one or more times during the previous 30 days. For the first time since the CDC began taking the survey in 1991, more teens said they smoked marijuana than cigarettes.

Nearly 40 percent of students said they had at least one alcoholic drink in the previous 30 days.

High school students are typically not older than 18.  And the legal drinking age is 21 in most places these days.  So these 40% are not great fans of the law.  The legal age to buy and smoke tobacco products in most states is 18.  So those smoking cigarettes are likely underage, too.  (Unless they were held back a few years in school.)  So those smoking cigarettes are also not great fans of the law.

More kids are smoking marijuana than cigarettes.  As marijuana is illegal this is yet another law these kids are breaking.  So these smoking and drinking kids are habitually breaking the law.  And every time they do so it is a bad decision.  Especially if they operate a motor vehicle afterward.  And being that auto deaths are still the leading cause of death for teenagers it is a good chance they’re doing these things while driving.  As well as texting while driving.

A lot of teenagers have a problem with authority.  And when they get a chance to vote they tend to vote against authority.  For someone who isn’t their parent.  So their bad behavior extends to the voting booth.  Where they don’t vote for what is best for their country.  But best for them in the moment.  More lenient drug laws.  Free birth control.  Access to abortion.  Things that are important in their young lives.  And that can facilitate more bad decision making.

That’s why Democrat candidates appear on shows that cater to these teenagers.  To show how unlike their parents they are.  Knowing these kids aren’t interested in monetary or fiscal policy.  Or responsible governing.  They just want to laugh at conservatives.  Party.  And vote for the cool people.  That are more like them than their parents.  So they go on the cool shows.  And shamelessly pander to these kids.  To get their votes.  And destroy their future with their policies.  But by the time these kids catch on to their game and start changing their vote there are more young people coming of age to take their place.  And the pandering continues.  Wooing the young vote before the young are young no more.  And they start making good decisions.

The U.S. Postal Service is One of the Biggest and Least Successful Companies of All Time

Posted by PITHOCRATES - May 5th, 2012

Week in Review

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) may not be part of the government.  But it sure acts like it is (see As a private firm the US Postal Service would rank 35th on the Fortune 500 list, but it would also be bankrupt posted 5/5/2012 on The Economist).

AT THE bottom of its press releases the US Postal Service brags that if it were a private company, it would rank 35th on the Fortune 500 list. Were it a private firm, it would also be bankrupt. The service loses $25m a day.

Hit hard by the recession and the march towards electronic mail, the Postal Service is in desperate need of reform…

A normal business could not operate like this. Over three-quarters of America’s post offices do not make a profit. Take, for example, the office in Alix, Arkansas, which last year cost $48,452 to run and brought in just $3,642 in revenue. Its earnings may be thinned by the presence of eight other post offices in an 11-mile radius. Under the Senate bill, the Alix office would remain open…

A more pressing concern for the service involves payments into a health-benefits fund for the future retired…

The focus will now shift to the House, which is considering a postal-reform bill of its own. Its author, Darrell Issa, a Republican from California, plans to end Saturday delivery and establish a financial-control board with a mandate to cut costs. His bill would take politics out of the process by creating an independent commission to oversee the closure of post offices. And it would aim to bring the pay of postal employees into line with the private sector.

The solution is easy to some.  Get rid of email.  Text messaging.  And paying your bills online.  That’s the solution they’ve used elsewhere in the economy to protect a dying industry from a higher quality, lower cost competitor.  They used tariffs to protect the U.S. automotive industry.  And as a result they have lost all but a fraction of the global market.  They’ve passed labor laws favoring higher cost union labor.  And chased manufacturers out of the country.  The Labor Department sued Boeing for building a new 787 Dreamliner plant in a nonunion state.  Because they wanted those planes to be built with costlier union labor.  Making them less competitive with Airbus.  Who continues to expand their market share.  So why not get rid of email?  It would be no more foolish than past solutions.

Of course, they can’t do that.  Too many young people enjoy emailing and texting.  And everything else in the digital world.  They can increase the price of a car or a plane ticket without it affecting your every waking moment.  You can’t do that with the Internet.  For the American youth have a fever.  And the only prescription is more Internet access.  Or more cowbell.  And if you take that away to save something they don’t use that will come back to bite them in the buttocks in the first election following that action.  And that’s a problem.  Because the youth don’t care about past institutions or economics.  Their world is centered on them.  And if you mess with their immediate pleasures in life they will punish you at the polls.

So the solution to the USPS may have to be a real solution.  To address the real problems.  Which are simple.  There isn’t enough paper mail to support the current size of the USPS.  Or the current budget.  So you’re going to have to close some offices.  Some sorting centers.  And other infrastructure.  Most important of all you’re going to have to cut the payroll.  Letting people go.  And reducing their pay and benefit packages for those who stay.  Including those for retirees.  Like they do in the real world.  It’s either that or figuring out a way to put a stamp on an email.  Which past postmasters have thought about.  And are no doubt thinking about again.  If they can just figure a way to blame George W. Bush.  Or the Republicans.  Because young people already hate them.

FT107: “Birth control pills prevent a natural biological function while ED pills restore one.” -Old Pithy

Posted by PITHOCRATES - March 2nd, 2012

Fundamental Truth

Women take Birth Control Pills to have Sex without it resulting in the Miracle of Life or a Real Inconvenience

The human body is a complex machine with one biological purpose.  To propagate the species.  That is, to make babies.  Humans may have other purposes.  Depending on your religion.  Or lack thereof.  But biologically speaking everything we do as humans is to sustain our lives so we can make babies.  Just like other animals on this planet.  And all organisms that lay eggs or give live birth.  At the most basic level we are just baby-making machines.  It’s the natural order of things.  Our biological purpose.  Which explains why we have a sex drive.  And why we spade and neuter stray cats.

The great George Michael explained this sex drive well in song (excerpted here):

It’s natural
It’s chemical
It’s logical
Habitual
It’s sensual
But most of all
Sex is something we should do
Sex is something for me and you
Sex is natural
Sex is good
Not everybody does it
But everybody should
Sex is natural
sex is fun
Sex is best when it’s one on one

(From George Michael’s I Want Your Sex.)

Not familiar with George Michael?  Am I dating myself?  Just ask your parents who George Michael is.  Chances are your mom will make a face or a sound you don’t want to see or hear as she recalls a primeval lust from yesteryear.  But this is sex.  And it’s all these things for one reason.  Biologically speaking, that is.  To start up that biological machine.  And to make it do what it was meant to do.  Make babies.

Now there are those who want to alter the natural order of things.  Who enjoy having sex.  Lots and lots of sex.  In fact, they can’t get enough of that sex.  But they don’t want the natural output of that biological machine.  So they practice birth control.  Men wear condoms.  Women take birth control pills.  Among other things.  To prevent all of that fun from resulting in the miracle of life.  Or a real inconvenience.  Depending on your religious views.  Or lack thereof.

Women who have Abortions have Higher Incidences of Breast Cancer than Women who take Birth Control Pills or who have Babies

Cigarettes introduce unnatural chemicals into the human body.  Harming the human body.  So the government places great sin taxes on them to dissuade us from smoking.  They warn us of the dangers to scare us into not smoking.  And they sue the tobacco companies because they have lots of money.  And blame them for kids smoking.  Not their music, movie and television heroes.  (What guitar hero doesn’t have a cigarette dangling from their lips as they play?)  Eating poorly can harm the human body, too.  And government is now taking steps to protect people from bad food.  Not quite like they do with cigarettes.  Yet.  But they are working in that direction.

Obamacare is forcing people to buy health insurance.  Because, they say, many of us are harming ourselves through poor lifestyle choices.  Such as smoking.  Or eating poorly.  And it’s not fair that we go to the emergency room for free health care.  Because it just makes health insurance more expensive for those who do buy it.  To cover the costs for all of those uninsured emergency room visits.  So Obamacare wants to use the heavy hand of government to make people either make better lifestyle choices.  Or pay for the consequences of their poor lifestyle choices.

A recent study has shown links between rising incidences of breast cancer and the lack of using breasts for their biological purpose.  Feeding babies.  Women who bottle feed have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who breast feed.  Women who take birth control pills have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who have babies.  And women who have abortions have higher incidences of breast cancer than women who take birth control pills.  The study indicates that it’s the interruption of the natural biological process of converting the breast tissue to produce milk causing the increase in the incidences of breast cancer.  And stopping the conversion of tissue after the process starts (i.e., having an abortion) has the most harmful affect on the breast tissue.  Leaving mutated cells that become cancerous.

Any Political Candidate that Helps Young People have Sex is Sure to get their Vote

Obamacare includes provisions that require insurance providers to provide birth control and abortion.  They call these women’s health issues.  Because the ‘miracle of life’ or that ‘great inconvenience’ (depending on your religious views or lack thereof) can be very harmful if carried to term.  Thus fulfilling the natural order of things.  The biological purpose of our human machines.  So Obamacare discourages us from smoking and eating poorly because of the costly and harmful consequences of these lifestyle choices.  But they encourage another potentially harmful lifestyle choice.  Having sex without making babies.  Which may increase the incidences of breast cancer.  The very program that is supposed to make us choose healthier lifestyles and accept the consequences of poor lifestyle choices encourages women to choose an unhealthy lifestyle that may give them breast cancer.  Or a venereal disease.  Which may happen with all that sex with multiple partners.  Unless they’re following the advice of George Michael.  And keeping it one on one.

Of course, these are primeval views.  Much like that primeval sex drive.  Only we’re supposed to get over our primeval views on making babies.  So women are free to enjoy careers.  And have as much consequence-free sex as they desire.  Something that pleases a lot of men.  Probably more men than women.  Especially young men.  Who have one thing on their mind.  And couldn’t ask for anything more than free-spirited and empowered women with access to all the women’s health products and services she so desires.  And any political candidate that helps these young people to have as much sex as they want is sure to get their vote.  So it’s no surprise that the Democrats get the youth vote.  Because the Democrats are so unlike these kids’ parents.

So women demand their birth control.  For their health.  And demand that their health insurance plans pay for it.  Or the taxpayers.  Because it’s an issue of women’s health.  That we can address in no other way.  (Excluding abstinence, marriage, paying for your own birth control, etc.)  In fact they say it’s no different than men’s erectile dysfunction (ED) pills.  But there is a slight difference.  The ED pills try to restore a biological function.  Whereas birth control tries to prevent one.  ED pills tries to restore the human baby-making machine.  While birth control pills tries to shut that machine down.  Contrary to the natural order.  And our biological purpose.
