As far as Countries went in 1775 there were None Better than Great Britain
As late as 1775 the American colonists were still seeking reconciliation with Great Britain. For they were proud to be British. Citizens of the greatest empire in the world. The British Empire. Where there was representative government. The rule of law. Free market capitalism. And no taxation without representation. As far as countries went in 1775 there were none better.
The problem the colonists had wasn’t with the British Empire. Or their king. It was with the people who worked for the king. And Parliament. Who were denying them the rights every other British subject enjoyed in the greatest empire in the world. With things taking a turn for the worse with the Townshend Acts. The Tea Act. The Stamp Act. The Intolerable Acts (Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, Quartering Act and Quebec Act).
The colonists pleaded to King George. Who they affirmed their loyalty to. But expressed their frustration with the king’s representatives and Parliament. Their great incompetence. And corruption. Requesting relief from the king. Wishing the king would see things their way. And fix things. Maybe even fire some of his people who were responsible for causing all the trouble they found themselves in. But kings don’t fire people by request. For kings are very intolerant. Especially when their subjects dare to defy them. Which is why the colonists last attempt at reconciliation, the Olive Branch Petition, was met with scorn from King George. While the Americans were still debating whether to declare their independence King George saved them the trouble. And declared that they were in open rebellion. Hired Hessian mercenaries. And waged war on his own subjects.
Nixon did not order nor was he aware of the Watergate Break-in but faced Impeachment over the Cover-up
Andy Reid is the most successful coach in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles. Or, was. For after going 4-12 in the 2012 season they fired him. Because the team owner thought he was doing a poor job. A fate many other head coaches face when they don’t deliver a winning season. If they aren’t great in their job that’s it. Owners fire them. And start looking for someone who will be great. For the owners have a large investment in their teams. Money they won’t get back if people stop buying tickets. Which they will do if they don’t start winning games.
Jacques Nasser was CEO of the Ford Motor Company from 1998 to 2001. When he took office Ford was the most profitable of all automakers. During his tenure he tried to change Ford. To make it even more profitable. And make Ford more than just a car company. Sort of what Jack Welch was doing over at GE. He acquired some other auto companies. Dabbled in ecommerce. And other auto businesses down the food chain from new car sales. Including repair shops. And even junkyards. While he was doing all of this Firestone tires were disintegrating on the Ford Explorer. Suffice it to say that Ford wasn’t as strong financially as it was when Nasser became CEO. And when you do that there is but one thing to do. Submit your resignation. Which he did.
On June 17, 1972, a security guard caught five ‘burglars’ inside the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters at the Watergate Complex. One of the reasons they were there was to place illegal listening devices. To hear things that would help President Nixon’s reelection chances. Nixon did not order this nor was he aware of it. But names on the burglars led to the White House Plumbers. Whose job was to stop security leaks. Something the president did not want made public. Which led to President Nixon’s involvement as he ordered the cover-up. A crime so heinous he ultimately had to resign to avoid impeachment.
History shows President Nixon and King George were better Heads of State than President Obama
Scandals have plagued the Obama administration. Fast and Furious (sending guns to Mexico so they could be ‘found’ after they were used in gun crimes to advance the gun control agenda). Benghazi (ignoring the security risk in Benghazi and then blaming the murder of 4 Americans by terrorists on a YouTube video to help the president’s reelection chances). Monitoring phone calls and emails of the Associated Press and Fox’s James Rosen (trying to find the source of security leaks like Nixon’s White House Plumbers). IRS-gate (using the IRS to target political enemies of the Obama administration to suppress the opposition vote, especially the Tea Party). And Obamacare.
The president said if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance. If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. Statements that weren’t true. As they specifically wrote the new health care law to make sure we would lose our policies and lose our doctors. Because we had to. For if they didn’t get these people (the young and healthy with inexpensive ‘crappy’ policies) into their health exchanges Obamacare would be underfunded. And if these people don’t pay for the old and sick who would? Besides, the ultimate goal of Obamacare is to get America to a single-payer system. What the people don’t want. So the Affordable Care Act has to destroy the private health insurance industry first to force single-payer on the people. Which will be easier to do when they have no other alternative.
Watergate forced a president to resign and sent some 43 people to jail. All because of the cover-up. Which was worse than the crime. The Obama administration scandals are all worse than a bungled burglary. And some of the cover-ups have been whoppers of a lie (such as the Benghazi YouTube video). Yet no one was fired. No one resigned. Not even with the debacle of the Obamacare rollout. (Such a failure would result in firings/resignations in the private sector.) Any requests for such actions are met with scorn by the Obama administration. Just like King George did with the American colonists. For President Obama acts like an imperial president. Who will lie and deceive to get what he wants (e.g., Obamacare, reelection, etc.). For he knows what’s best for us. Gets annoyed when we don’t see his wisdom. And fumes with rage when his subjects dare defy him. So President Obama shares some of the worst of President Nixon and King George. But, sadly, he shares none of their greatness. For history shows that they were both better heads of state than President Obama. And that’s with all of their faults.

The Founding Fathers were Gentlemen of the Enlightenment with Sound Philosophical Beliefs
Politicians have to win elections. They have to persuade and convince people to vote for them. Once upon a time that meant vigorous debate where candidates explained why their way was the better way. Going right back to the Founding. Where Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson bitterly contested each other’s vision for the country. And the debate often got dirty. Such as when Hamilton’s political enemies exposed his extramarital affair with the con-woman Mrs. Reynolds who seduced Hamilton with the purpose of blackmailing him. Who wanted to use this information to say he was involved in a bigger scheme with Mr. Reynolds in defrauding the federal government.
Treasury Secretary Hamilton met three gentlemen of the political opposition in private. Admitting to his affair. And proved beyond a shadow of doubt that all money paid to the blackmailers came from Hamilton’s private funds. Not a penny came from the Treasury Department. According to 18th century gentlemanly behavior the matter was closed. The affair was a personal matter. It would be imprudent to make it a public issue. But upon Hamilton’s retirement a bitter political enemy leaked this information to a scandalmonger. James Callender. Who wrote a book exposing this private matter. The History of the United States for the Year 1796. Jefferson had helped to finance Callender. And reveled in Hamilton’s scandal. But when you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. And Jefferson did. For Callender published articles confirming rumors that Jefferson had fathered children with his slave Sally Hemings.
Politics then were just as dirty as they are today. And often crossed the line. But underneath all the scandals and mudslinging there were philosophical principles. They did these things for principle. For they feared the opposition and what their policies would do the fledgling nation. There was political patronage and political corruption. But above that was a battle of competing political ideology. Waged by men well read in history. Familiar with John Locke. And Charles-Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu. Icons of the Enlightenment. Whose philosophies can be found in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. These Founding Fathers were rich propertied men. Established in their careers. Who had little left to prove. These gentlemen of the Enlightenment did what they did not for money or political favor. So they could live a more comfortable life. They did these things out of principle. Based on sound philosophical beliefs.
The Democrats try to Scare the Bejesus out of People to Get and Keep the Republicans out of Office
It’s not like that anymore. Instead of rich successful people entering politics for selfless reasons people of no accomplishments enter politics to become rich and powerful. Who have no principles. Who will buy and sell anyone to remain in power. Of course they don’t campaign by saying this. Instead, their campaigns are based on hopes and fears. And the telling a lot of lies. With little principle. Or sound philosophical beliefs.
In 2008 President Obama campaigned on hope and change. To get away from the partisan politics of the past. Democrats continue to peddle hope. Health care for everyone. College degrees for everyone. High-paying green jobs and energy independence. A return of manufacturing jobs. Spending our way out of recession with Keynesian stimulus spending. A bigger social safety net. Talking to our enemies instead of going to war with them. And making them like us by resolving all of our differences with diplomacy. That we can have whatever we want. If only we got the Republicans out of office.
While at the same time the Democrats try to scare the bejesus out of people if we don’t get and keep the Republicans out of office. For the Republicans want to take away birth control and abortion from women. And keep them from being independent and having careers. The poor will remain poor. The rich will get richer. And the hungry will die. Slavery will be reinstituted. The Republicans will tax the middle class more so they can give tax breaks to rich corporations. They will burden the nation with massive deficits with their tax cuts for the rich. Global warming will continue unchecked. Our drinking water will be polluted. And our atmosphere will become poisonous to breathe. All because Republicans put profit before people.
The Left tells a lot of Lies to Win Elections because all they have are Failed Keynesian Economic Policies
Republicans, on the other hand, peddle the hope that we can return to the prosperity of Ronald Reagan. By cutting tax rates. For throughout U.S. history whenever the government cut tax rates prosperity followed. As well as flooded the treasury with tax dollars. For contrary to the fear peddling of the Democrats cuts in tax rates have historically increased tax revenue. And can again. As Ronald Reagan campaigned in 1984, it can be Morning in America again. We can be prouder, stronger and better.
While at the same time Republicans like to scare people with national security issues. The Clinton administration handled terrorist attacks against America in the courts. Which emboldened America’s enemies into an escalation of attacks resulting in 9/11. The one in 2001. Not the attack in 2012 on the U.S consulate in Benghazi. While the Democrats believe our enemies hate us because George W. Bush made them hate us with his cowboy swaggering ways. And that was the only reason. Even though Bush had little time to swagger before the attacks on 9/11. Those in 2001. Not the ones in 2012. The Republicans say our enemies hate us for who we are. As we are too Christian. And allow our women to have careers and use birth control and abortion. Something our enemies won’t allow their women to have.
President Obama did not end partisan politics. He lied about that. For his administration has been perhaps the most partisan in U.S. history. With no interest whatsoever in compromise. He and the Democrats continue to lie about the Reagan tax cuts. And the Bush tax cuts. Blaming tax cuts for all our woes. And our deficits. Despite those tax cuts increasing tax revenue. They lied about a war on women. Having one of their cronies in the mainstream media create it by asking Mitt Romney if he wanted to take away women’s birth control. And they continuously spread the lie that the rich aren’t paying their fair share in taxes. When the top 10% of income earners pay about 70% of all federal income taxes.
So the Left tells a lot of lies to win elections. Because that’s all they have. They do not have a Morning in America they can talk about. Just failed Keynesian economic policies. Like the 4 years of Jimmy Carter. The 4 years of President Obama. And what may have been the 4 years of Bill Clinton had it not been for the Republicans taking control of Congress 2 years into his presidency. Of course the Republicans can tell a lie, too. The big one being their claim of being conservative like Ronald Reagan. As they too often fall for the lies coming from the Left. And appear more interested in living a comfortable life than sound philosophical beliefs.

Week in Review
According to the Left it’s the Republicans who enrich their friends in corporate America. But it wasn’t the Republicans that passed a near $1 trillion stimulus bill to enrich their friends in corporate America. No. That was the Democrats. And they really enriched their friends. Their friends in green energy. Those corporations that were supposed to create the jobs of the future. That created no jobs (see Examiner Editorial: Insiders get rich on Obama’s green energy stimulus posted 10/31/2012 on The Examiner).
According to a Washington Examiner analysis of publicly available data, corporate insiders at the 15 publicly traded green energy companies that received federal stimulus subsidies pocketed tens of millions by selling their stock after the government’s money poured in and before their companies’ values plummeted.
The Obama administration gave more than $700 million in grants and guaranteed an additional $500 million in loans to publicly traded green energy companies through its 2009 stimulus package. If Obama had invested all that money in a Standard & Poors index fund of the top 500 publicly traded companies, his investment would have seen a 73 percent return since he took office. In contrast, the Obama “green energy” stimulus portfolio has fallen by 78 percent — performing about five points worse than green energy companies that didn’t get subsidies.
The insider trades by officers and directors of these companies tell us still more. They cashed out a net $63.9 million in stock gains before their companies’ stock prices collapsed…
This analysis does not include some of the best-known Obama energy failures. Solyndra, for example, blew through more than $500 million in taxpayer-guaranteed loans before it could even go public. Another high-profile failure, First Solar, is not included because it sold off much of its $3 billion in federal loan guarantees to third parties before it laid off 30 percent of its workforce and its stock price declined by more than 90 percent from its 2011 high. The company’s head, Michael Ahearn, has extracted more than $329 million in stock sales since 2009 all by himself.
The problem with green energy is that it’s not economically viable. Few investors put their money in these ventures because investors are smart and know how to invest money wisely. Which is why the government is pouring money into these companies. Because no one else will. For these are not wise investments.
So where’s the outrage? The stimulus bill was greater than the money spent under TARP. The program to bail out all those troubled assets. Those toxic mortgages. That infuriated the masses so much they showed up outside some bankers’ homes with pitchforks and torches. Spawning the Occupy Wall Street movement. And the whole 99% against the 1%. But these green energy scandals? You can almost hear the crickets chirping as you read about them in the few papers that write about them. Why?
That’s a rhetorical question. We all know why. Except for a very few exceptions the media is liberal. And will actively support Democrats. And attack Republicans. That’s why a larger financial scandal gets less coverage than a smaller one. And the smaller one only got that coverage because in that coverage they failed to tell the whole story. It wasn’t the bankers that forced these borrowers into subprime mortgages. It was the government who forced the bankers to approve the unqualified for mortgages or else. Basically saying their lending practices were discriminatory and that if they didn’t change they would find themselves out of the mortgage business. So how do you qualify the unqualified for mortgages? With subprime lending. Which they did. And kept doing after Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bought those toxic mortgages from them and unloaded them on unsuspecting investors. Which is the part they don’t tell the people with the pitchforks and torches. That it wasn’t the bankers who were responsible for the subprime mortgage crisis. It was the government.
And this is why the media doesn’t care about the green energy scandals. They can’t revise the facts to blame them on the Republicans. So they just ignore them.
