Repealing Obamacare has a larger Scientific Consensus than Global Warming

Week in Review

If you’re a fan of alpine skiing you probably were disappointed with the Sochi games.  Because it was too warm.  In fact, they were the warmest Winter Games ever (see It’s Official: Sochi Was the Warmest Winter Olympics Ever by Eric Holthaus posted 2/24/2014 on Slate).

In what was painfully obvious to each and every viewer, the just-completed celebration of snow sports in the southern Russia resort city of Sochi was the warmest Winter Olympics ever.

The Olympics were plagued by spring-like weather: Skiers landed in puddles at the bottom of their runs, snow was trucked in from more northern mountains, and tourists were caught sunbathing between events.

A comprehensive analysis by American meteorologist Matt Lanza, updated on Monday, showed Sochi was head-and-shoulders the warmest Winter Olympics since at least 1950, as far back as reliable weather records go.

Now, to be fair, Sochi had a head start. It has the warmest average climate of any winter Olympics venue in history. But it was even warmer than normal this month in southern Russia: The highest temperature recorded during the games was a whopping 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Six days were in the 60s.

Of course there are those that are saying this is further proof that the planet is warming.  Because of manmade carbon emissions.  And they have the data to prove it.  Because they have ‘reliable’ weather records going all the way back to 1950.  Some 64 years ago.  That is, they have reliable data covering 0.0000013% of the climate history of the planet.  So there you have it.  The science of manmade global warming is settled.  At least they say there is a scientific consensus.

It’s a pity we can’t use such ‘scientific’ sampling like that to determine whether or not to repeal Obamacare.  Because if we did all we would have to do is find 2 people out of one million who say it should be repealed.  For 2 out of one million is 0.000002%.  Which is greater than 0.0000013%.  And the odds of finding 2 people out of one million that would want to repeal Obamacare are pretty good.  Just as good as the odds of finding a favorable weather pattern in 64 years out of a total of 5 billion years of weather to settle the science of global warming.  But the left would never repeal Obamacare if only 0.000002% of the people wanting it repealed.  For they’re refusing to repeal it now even though a recent New York Times/CBS News poll shows 42% of those asked want a full repeal of Obamacare.

For the left 0.0000013% settles science when it comes to their junk science.  But 42% is only a statistical anomaly when it goes against their political agenda.  Showing how ridiculous both global warming and Obamacare are.  And how arrogant and deceitful they are when it comes to their political agenda.

500 Trillion Experiments doesn’t ‘Settle’ anything in Particle Physics while 40 Observances of Annual Climate apparently Does

Posted by PITHOCRATES - March 1st, 2014

Week in Review

Anyone saying that manmade emissions cause global warming is settled science shows both ignorance and arrogance.  As well as a political agenda.  For there is no such thing as settled science.  Especially when you use computer models to prove your case in the scant 2 decades when it became all the rage with people like Al Gore telling us if we don’t act now the earth will turn to a burnt cinder by Saturday.  But that’s not science.  This is looking at extremely recent events in our planet’s approximately 5 billion year lifespan to determine what is normal for that 5 billion year lifespan.  Or abnormal.

If you like math those 2 decades of global warming handwringing over 20 years of ‘incontrovertible’ evidence amounts to about 0.0000004% of the planet’s life.  Or, if you want to go back all the way to the mid Seventies when the handwringing went from fear of the coming ice age to the fear of global warming (about 40 years) that time period is but 0.0000008% of the planet’s life.  Meaning the current data means nothing.  Because it’s too small of a sample.  No, real science takes a much longer look at empirical data.  And even then it’s still not settled science (see Scientists Make Largest Quark, Solving A 20-Year Mystery by Douglas Main posted 2/24/2014 on Popular Science).

After working at it for nearly 20 years, scientists at the Tevatron particle accelerator at Fermilab have discovered the last as-yet-unproven way of making this quark–and it only took 500 trillion particle collisions to do it. “It’s a very rare process… and it’s very exciting” to finally witness it, Fermilab physicist Dmitri Denisov told Popular Science.

Under the Standard Model, the theory by which these particles are understood, there should be three ways of producing quarks. The first two had been shown in 1995 and 2008. In the first instance, top quarks were produced by strong nuclear force, by slamming a proton and anti-proton into each other. But in the 2008, and now the 2014 discovery, top quarks were produced in a rare event, via weak nuclear force. The finding helps reinforce the Standard Model, which predicts that quarks can be made by exploiting both types of forces, Denisov said. “It’s important that all forces in nature, strong and weak, equally produce the top quark.”

Now that’s science.  Not like observing annual climate a scant 40 times.  No.  Real scientists conduct an experiment 500 trillion times.  And when you do something 500 trillion times the patterns you see actually mean something.  It’s still not settled science.  But it raises the bar a lot higher for other scientists to disprove this theory in favor of their own.  Even the ‘accepted science’ of the Standard Model is still being questioned.  Which dates back as far as global warming handwringing.  But it’s not settled science.  Despite 500 trillion particle collisions.  The results only reinforce the Standard Model.  Which is all these collisions can do.  Because there is no such thing as settled science.  And anyone claiming anything is settled science is just demonstrating their woeful ignorance.  Or extreme arrogance in their ability to lie to advance a political agenda.

A Poll of Entrepreneurs shows President Obama as one of the most Anti-Middle Class Presidents Ever

Posted by PITHOCRATES - October 19th, 2013

Week in Review

This is the worst economic recovery since that following the Great Depression.  And it’s not George W. Bush’s fault.  Despite what he did to increase the size of government.  No.  The anemic recovery is due to President Obama.  And his anti-business policies (see Not open for business posted 10/12/2013 on The Economist).

America is not producing as many start-ups as it did a decade ago and those that have been created are providing fewer jobs—less than five each, compared with an historical average of about seven. Start-ups created 2.7m new jobs in the 2012 financial year compared with 4.7m in 1999.

The financial crisis clearly bears a lot of the blame for reducing America’s stock of capital and animal spirits. But it is only a partial explanation. The decline in the number of firms going public began in 2001. And these problems are continuing to delay the recovery despite the federal government pump-priming the economy and keeping interest rates near zero.

So there you have it.  Federal government pump-priming and near zero interest rates do NOT stimulate economic activity.  As these are the bedrock of Keynesian economics then Keynesian Economics does NOT work.  This is a problem for America.  Because President Obama and the liberal left are dyed-in-the-wool Keynesians.  And why are they Keynesian extremists despite the historical record of Keynesian failure?  Because Keynesian economics empowers Big Government.  That is, Keynesian economics favors those in power.  Not the people.

Three years ago John Dearie and Courtney Geduldig, who both worked for the Financial Services Forum, which represents America’s biggest financial institutions, came up with an inspired idea. Why not ask entrepreneurs themselves what is going wrong? Both big multinationals and established small firms have lots of representatives in Washington, DC. Entrepreneurs are too busy inventing their companies to spend time lobbying. The pair organised meetings and conducted lots of polls. Across a vast and diverse country they heard the same message from everyone they asked: entrepreneurship is in a parlous state. And everyone pointed to the same problems. The result is a new book, “Where the Jobs Are”, which should be dropped onto the heads of America’s squabbling politicians.

The first worry is over human capital. Entrepreneurs repeatedly complain that they cannot hire the right people because universities are failing to keep pace with a fast-changing job market. Small firms lack the resources to provide training and are consequently making do with fewer people working longer hours.

The problem with our educational system is that it teaches our young to become Democrat voters.  Not prepare them for a high-tech economy.  Our public schools teach our children about the evils and unfairness of capitalism while lauding the goodness and fairness of government.  Turning them from their parents who are selfishly destroying the planet with their global warming to the government.  Who is expanding further and further into the private sector to save the polar bears.  And when our kids get to college our system of higher education takes it up a notch.  Attacking the history and the culture that made America the greatest country in the world.  So our college graduates can tell you every bad thing America has ever done but they lack the math and science skills that our high-tech economy so desperately needs.  Forcing businesses to turn to immigrants for those skills.

Immigrants are responsible for launching about half the country’s most successful start-ups and producing a striking number of its patents. But the authorities do their best to drive them out of the country once they have been educated or to break their spirits on the visa treadmill…

The second problem is the complexity and cost of government. Entrepreneurs the world over complain about regulations and taxes. But America’s have lots to gripe about: in 2009-11 the Obama administration issued 106 new regulations each expected to have an economic impact of at least $100m a year. Besides this business founders suffer from the constant political uncertainty generated by a combination of ambitious new legislation, such as Obamacare, and ideological trench warfare. The Vanguard Group, an asset-management firm, calculates that since 2011 Washington’s bickering politicians have imposed, in effect, a $261 billion uncertainty tax that has cost up to 1m new jobs.

Any administration that raises taxes and issues 106 new regulations is no friend of small business, jobs or the middle class.  Therefore President Obama is no friend of small business, jobs or the middle class.  No matter how much he says that he is.  If you want to know why this is the worst economic recovery since that following the Great Depression it’s because of the Keynesian in the White House.  And the Keynesians in Congress.  That are waging a war on small business, jobs and the middle class.

The financial crisis has worsened the third problem: raising money. Over 70% of new businesses are launched using savings or assets—particularly houses. The crisis reduced the average net wealth of American households by about 40%. Business founders repeatedly mention other problems too. Venture capitalists are increasingly risk-averse. The Sarbanes-Oxley act imposes additional costs of $1m a year on public companies. Investors no longer bother with “growth stocks” because there is more money to be made in making lots of big trades in established firms. The dramatic decline in the number of firms going public since 2001 is worrying because, over the past four decades, more than 90% of jobs created by start-ups came into being after they went public…

Fixing the small-business problem should be at the top of the political agenda. Some 22m workers are either unemployed or underemployed, or have given up looking for work. If it continues to generate new jobs at its current anaemic rate, America will not return to pre-recession employment levels until 2020. The country is lucky that entrepreneurship is part of its DNA. It seems perverse to put unnecessary obstacles in the path of people whose ambition is to found businesses and hire new workers.

Yes, we should put fixing the small-business problem at the top of the political agenda.  Which the Republicans recently tried by defunding Obamacare.  And reining in out of control spending.  But as this would be a check on the growth of government the Democrats shut down the government before letting that happen.  For they will have their taxes, regulations and spending.  And the middle class be damned.  For theirs is a government of the ruling elite, by the ruling elite and for the ruling elite.

The Left Politicizes Atrocities to Attack Conservatives

Posted by PITHOCRATES - April 18th, 2013

Politics 101

Democrats Quickly Politicized the Boston Marathon Bombings to attack Conservatives

What’s the difference between conservatives and liberals?  Well, for one, they respond to horrific tragedies differently.  Conservatives are sickened and saddened.  While liberals salivate with a potential opportunity to blame conservatives for these horrific events.  Which they are quick to do.  Even before the dead are identified and laid to rest.  As we can see in the Boston marathon bombings.

We don’t know anything yet.  But the media has been reporting on what we don’t know 24 hours a day since the bombings.  And on the day of the attack there have been those in the media already making the case that the bomber is possibly a ‘radical’ conservative.  Because it happened on April 15.  Tax Day.  During the Patriots’ Day holiday in Boston.  Not far from the anniversary of the fiery end of the Waco siege.  Even someone in the media wrote that they were hoping that it was the actions of an angry white man.  So it wouldn’t hurt the liberal political agenda.  More gun control.  And less restrictions on immigration.  So if the bomber(s) entered the country illegally (i.e., they’re not angry white men) that could hurt their attempts at creating new Democrat voters by giving illegal immigrants amnesty.

Former Democrat Congressman Barney Frank was quick to politicize the bombings, too.  He said the response of the first-responders proves the value of big government.  For no tax cuts or limited government would have made the response any better.  Another Democrat Congress person blamed the bombings on the sequester.  The cut in federal spending allowed these bombers to detonate these two bombs.  So on the one hand you have one Congress person saying how well the government handled the situation because we don’t have limited government or tax cuts while you have another saying the government was so weakened by the sequester that they were unable to stop these bombers.  Positions on opposite ends of the spectrum.  But with one thing in common.  They both attack conservatives.

The Left Gleefully reports a Conservative Connection in any Horrible Act of Violence even when there is None

They blamed the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, on radical gun-toting conservatives.  Anxious to prove that the shooter was a card carrying member of some conservative organization.  And were quite disappointed to find the shooter was just someone with mental health problems who the state should have institutionalized.  Who lived in his mother’s basement playing violent video games and earning high-scores with high kill numbers.  Some have even suggested that he was living in the fantasy world of the videogame when he started shooting.  Scoring points with each kill.  Reloading even before his magazines were empty (like during lulls in a videogame so you had a full magazine for the next shooting encounter).  And killing himself before the cops could kill him, resetting his game points to zero.  There are a lot of theories.  But with his suicide we can’t know for sure his motive.

Nothing would have prevented this shooting other than locking him up in an institution while he was learning about past mass shootings.  Planning his crime.  And playing hours of video games in his basement.  Adam Lanza was sick.  He was mentally unsound.  He had trouble interacting with people.  And separating the real world from the fantasy world of his video gaming.  But one thing he wasn’t was a radical conservative.  But it didn’t stop the liberal Democrats from blaming the Sandy Hook massacre on a conservative gun culture.  And using it to try and pass long-desired gun control legislation.  Instead of addressing mental health problems.  The cause of the Sandy Hook massacre.  In fact, during the last few decades the Left has made it more difficult to commit someone who is a danger to society.  And they exploded the use of drugs to treat a laundry list of childhood developmental problems.  Such as drugging a generation of kids for having attention deficit disorder.  Trusting in medication to make them safe and well behaved.  Leaving dangerous people free to hurt people.  Dangerous people like Adam Lanza.

Mental health problems are a main theme in many mass killings.  Before Newtown there was the 2012 Aurora theater shooting.  Where the shooter was a mentally sick individual.  James Holmes.  Who the state should have institutionalized.  As soon as his name was released a person in the media reported he was a member of the Tea Party.  Because he found a James Holmes in Aurora that was a member of the Tea Party.  Which they gleefully reported so they could show this horrible act of violence was by some gun-toting conservative.  Only it wasn’t THAT James Holmes.  The Aurora shooter had no connection to conservative politics whatsoever.

When Emotions are Running High the Left can Pass Legislation they’ve never been able to Pass Before

In Tucson in 2011 Jared Loughner went on a shooting spree.  Killing six.  And shooting Representative Gabrielle Giffords in the head.  The media immediately started blaming conservative Sarah Palin for inciting this rampage.  Because she had a bulls-eye on her website showing certain Congressional districts in the cross hairs.  Including Giffords’.  But was Jared Loughner incited to his crime by Palin?  No.  For he wouldn’t have gone on her website.  He was a registered Independent.  He hated George W. Bush.  He even believed that 9/11 was a government plot.  And was a paranoid schizophrenic who abused drugs and alcohol.

Nidal Malik Hasan shot and killed 13 people and wounded 30 at Fort Hood in 2009.  He was a major in the Army who had recently converted to Islam.  Was in communication with Yemen-based cleric Anwar al-Awlaki who was a known security threat.  And reportedly shouted what Islamist terrorists shout before they start killing.  Allahu Akbar!  Which translates to “God is great.”  But instead of calling this an act of terrorism President Obama called it workplace violence.  Because he was trying to wind down the War on Terror.  So he could use that money to pay for Obamacare.  And having an act of terrorism on a U.S Army post didn’t help with that agenda.

Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2007.  He also suffered from mental disorders going back to middle school.  Who had problems similar to Adam Lanza.  Something his college knew nothing about because of federal privacy laws.  Laws that protected the individual by putting the public at risk.  As an adult Cho chose to discontinue his therapy.  And his behavior became similar to how James Holmes would later act when he was in college.  Which is when the state probably should have committed him.  After the shooting rampage the Left blamed easy access to guns as the cause of the shooting.  Not their failed mental health policies.

One can see a general pattern.  The Left likes having these atrocities happen.  At least based on how they politicize these atrocities.  And why do they politicize these atrocities?  Because they can’t beat their political opponents in the arena of ideas.  So they turn to character assaults.  To destroy their political opponents.  By trying to blame these atrocities on conservatives.  And their cruel and unfeeling policies.  That kill school children.  And when emotions are running high they can pass legislation they’ve never been able to pass before.  Like gun control.  And they don’t run higher than when children die.
